Nearly 380 million VND to support workers in difficulty in the Maritime industry

Provide funds for the Trade Union to support 283 workers in difficulty

On June 9, Mr. Le Phan Linh - Chairman of the Vietnam National Shipping Lines Trade Union - said that, implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, based on the actual production and business and the movement of employees and workers of the units, the General Confederation of Labor has developed a plan to organize activities for the Workers' Month in 2025 with the theme: "Vietnamese workers take the lead in entering the new era" and deployed it to all affiliated trade unions, with the goal of striving for 60% or more of the trade unions to have at least 1 activity in response to the Workers' Month. As a result, 42 units have organized the Workers' Month, reaching 140% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

The Corporation's Trade Union has also provided funds to grassroots trade unions to support 283 union members, workers in difficult circumstances, those who have suffered work-related accidents, and families of union members who died in work-related accidents and traffic accidents in 2025, with a total amount of nearly 380 million VND; approved the policy of supporting 1 "Trade Union Shelter" for workers in difficult circumstances, with an amount of 50 million VND at Nghe Tinh Port.

The Corporation's Trade Union has coordinated with 25 Trade Unions to organize meetings and give gifts directly to disadvantaged employees at the unit and to their families.

Businesses and unions join hands for workers

Implementing the direction of the corporation's trade union, based on the actual production and business, organizational model, and labor characteristics of the unit, the affiliated trade unions have proactively researched, proposed, and coordinated with the professional staff to organize many practical activities to care for workers during Workers' Month such as: Visiting, giving gifts, and handing over "Union Shelter" houses to union members and workers in difficult circumstances or having work-related accidents; praising and honoring exemplary workers; organizing the forum "Party with workers - Workers with the Party", the program "Thanking workers", the program "Union cool water", proposing to the professional staff to apply measures to improve working conditions, provide labor protection equipment, organize seminars and dialogues on occupational safety and health, the contest "Excellent safety worker"; organizing cultural and sports activities, competitions to learn about the Party and Uncle Ho for union members and workers, etc.

Typical units are: Hai Phong Port, Saigon Port, VOSCO, Da Nang Port, Nghe Tinh Port, Quang Ninh Port, VOSA, Vitranschart, VIMC Shipping Company...

Ms. Nguyen Le Giang - Chairman of Quang Ninh Port Trade Union - said that on the occasion of Workers' Month 2025, Quang Ninh Port organized programs to give support to workers to honor the efforts of the team of workers and the "Excellent Safety Officer" contest with the goal of improving the knowledge, skills and sense of responsibility of each safety officer in ensuring occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace.

In addition, the union also coordinated to organize a meeting and exchange program between the leadership and employees. At the program, the leaders listened to and answered questions from employees, and at the same time presented valuable gifts to employees.

“Realizing that employees are the decisive factor for the sustainable development of Quang Ninh Port, the Board of Directors is committed to continuing to maintain and develop activities to care for the lives, improve working conditions as well as welfare policies for employees. Activities aimed at employees at Quang Ninh Port on the occasion of Workers' Month are not simply events, but also a symbol of solidarity and attachment among employees in the port” – Mr. Hoang Trong Tung, General Director of Quang Ninh Port shared.

According to Mr. Le Phan Linh, Chairman of the Vietnam National Shipping Lines Trade Union: “The goals set for Workers’ Month were all achieved; but more importantly, workers in difficult circumstances were cared for and supported; workers with many initiatives were commended and honored; workers’ thoughts and aspirations were listened to and promptly resolved by Party committees, professionals, and trade unions; the work of developing union members during the peak period was comprehensively implemented.”

In addition to effectively implementing activities to care for employees, responding to the direction of the peak period of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Corporation's Trade Union has promoted propaganda work, sent staff to directly support and guide grassroots unions to mobilize and persuade union members and employees to join the Trade Union organization and promptly rewarded collectives and individuals who performed well in developing union members. In May, nearly 1,600 employees were admitted to the Trade Union organization.
