On the evening of June 14, Dong Anh Stadium ( Hanoi ) was packed with spectators watching and cheering on the final match of the Asian Women's Volleyball Tournament - AVC Nations Cup between host team Vietnam and the Philippines.
To reach the final, the Vietnamese women's team defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 and the Philippines won against Taiwan (China) in the two semi-finals.
The match was even more exciting when hundreds of Filipino fans filled a corner of the D stand of the stadium, cheering for the away team. These were Filipinos living and working in Hanoi, including tourist groups visiting Hanoi and coincidentally present at this time to watch the match.
In the first half, with the excellence of main striker Thanh Thuy at wing 4 and Bich Tuyen at wing 2, Vietnam proved the strength of a championship candidate with an easy 25-15 victory over the visiting team Philippines.
Captain Thanh Thuy successfully finished from an attack behind the 3m line.
The Philippines team brought a squad of young players with experience and modest height to compete in this year's tournament. It is not difficult to see the superiority of the Vietnam team with all the best names currently in the squad.
Entering the second half, the Vietnamese team showed signs of faltering when they continuously let the away team lead by 9 points. Notably, the Philippine players used a serving tactic with the main target being captain Thanh Thuy to limit the ability of the Vietnamese team's main attacker to attack immediately afterwards.
Even head coach Tuan Kiet of the Vietnamese team had times when he felt stressed and annoyed with the other team's playing tactics.
This is also the tournament where main striker number 20 Nguyen Thi Uyen and middle striker number 25 Bich Thuy returned to the Vietnam team after 2 years. The players' coordination was not really good and effective in finishing situations.
However, with experience and courage, captain Thanh Thuy and her teammates gradually regained their points and won with a score of 25-17.
In the third round, the Philippines brought in some new faces. Notably, the number 1 striker Nitura, who is short in height but has good jumping power, intercepts the ball high and scores important points from the 4th sideline and behind the 3m line.

The opposing team continued to "wear down" Thanh Thuy's physical strength and reduce her attacking ability when aiming to serve the ball to the captain of the Vietnamese team, however, setter number 19 Duong Thi Lam Oanh excellently adjusted the bad first-step situations to distribute the ball effectively to the attackers.
This was also the match that recorded the efforts of both teams' players to save the ball, especially Vietnam's libero Khanh Dang.
With her strong and superior attacking ability from the 2nd sideline and behind the 3m line, Bich Tuyen continuously scored decisive points in the 3rd quarter, helping the Vietnamese team easily beat the Philippines with a score of 25-14.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team excellently won the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship - AVC Cup 2025, this is also the third consecutive championship for coach Tuan Kiet and his students.
