Son Heung Min has recently officially said goodbye to Tottenham after a decade of association. It is highly likely that the Korean star will join Los Angeles FC (LAFC) with a transfer fee of up to 26 million USD. This is a record transfer fee in the history of the US Major League Soccer (MLS).

Son Heung Min admitted that leaving Spurs was the "most difficult decision of his career", and revealed that the club is supporting him in finding a new home, with LAFC being a potential destination.
The striker, born in 1992, was given an emotional farewell by Tottenham at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday (August 3), during the friendly match between Tottenham and Newcastle with nearly 65,000 spectators watching.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but the highlight was the moment Son Heung Min left the field in the second half, to the applause of his teammates, opposing players and fans. He sat quietly on the bench, unable to hide his emotions.
Although the deal to LAFC has not been officially announced, US media reported that Son Heung Min is very close to signing a contract with LAFC. The American club is willing to pay the Korean striker a salary of 8.7 million USD per year. This would make him the second highest-paid player in MLS, behind only Messi ($20.4 million per year).
In addition to the above income, Son Heung Min also receives commissions on shirt sales, television rights and sponsorship, just like Messi. Previously, the 33-year-old star refused a salary of about 30 million USD per year from Saudi Arabian clubs.

Recently, Son Heung Min also confirmed that he will join the Korean team at the 2026 World Cup, taking place in the US, Mexico and Canada. Perhaps, that is one of the reasons why this striker decided to move to the US to play.
In 10 years with Tottenham, Son Heung Min scored 173 goals and had 101 assists in 454 appearances. Notably, he played a major role in helping Spurs win the Europa League last season.
