About 700 athletes compete in the Central and Central Highlands Open Chess Tournament

Continuing to promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", recently, in Quy Nhon ward (Gia Lai province), the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of the province organized the opening ceremony of the 7th Central and Central Highlands Open Chess Tournament in 2025.

The tournament gathered about 700 athletes from 30 delegations and clubs from provinces and cities with strong and developed chess movements in the country, such as Quang Binh , Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Gia Lai... Participating in the tournament from August 1 to 5, athletes in age groups from 7 to 16 and 18 competed in 2 basic and team systems, competing in 3 events: Rapid Chess, Blitz Chess and Super Blitz Chess.

At the opening ceremony of the tournament, Mr. Bui Trung Hieu - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, Head of the Organizing Committee, affirmed: The tournament is organized to expand and promote the movement of practicing and competing in intellectual sports in general and chess in particular in the whole society; is a useful activity for young people and children to have the opportunity to participate in competitions, accumulate experience and chess skills, access a professional competition environment, contribute to improving physical fitness, developing intelligence, and building a healthy cultural life for Vietnamese youth.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, athletes of different age groups entered the competition.
