Vietnamese swimmers secure a brilliant collection of medals on their first day of competition.
From 6 PM onwards, at the swimming pool of the Huamark Sports Complex (Bangkok), the first finals of the SEA Games 33 swimming competition took place. In the very first event, both Vietnamese athletes, Tran Hung Nguyen and Nguyen Quang Thuan (younger brother of the golden girl Nguyen Anh Vien), performed excellently, winning one gold and one bronze medal. Next, My Tien surprised everyone by winning the silver medal in the 200m butterfly. Following that, Nguyen Quoc and the women's 4x100m freestyle relay team added two more bronze medals.
Hung Nguyen shared his thoughts after winning the first gold medal for the Vietnamese swimming team at the 33rd SEA Games.

Tran Hung Nguyen won the gold medal in the men's 200m individual medley, while Quang Thuan won the bronze. This is Hung Nguyen's fourth consecutive gold medal at the SEA Games.

My Tien finished second in the 200m butterfly event with a time of 2 minutes and 12 seconds.

Tran Van Nguyen Quoc finished third in the men's 100m freestyle with a time of 50.02 seconds.

The four Vietnamese swimmers, Nguyen Thuy Hien, Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Kha Nhi, and Pham Thi Van, finished third and won a bronze medal in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay.

On December 11th, the Vietnamese swimming team will continue competing in the men's 50m backstroke, men's 50m freestyle, women's 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, women's 200m individual medley, and men's 4x200m freestyle relay. It is expected that the Vietnamese swimming team will win another gold medal on this day. All hopes are placed on "Frog Prince" Pham Thanh Bao.
