Gen Z guy and his journey to spread sunshine and warm the world

I was lucky to know and talk with him - Nguyen Huu Day, a student who just graduated from Information Technology at Vietnam Aviation Academy.

Born in Gia Rai, Bac Lieu (now Ca Mau province), although only 21 years old, Day has devoted more than 5 years to volunteer activities.

Huu Day said that he has long cherished the dream of helping others, especially those who are less fortunate in life. Therefore, in 2019, when he was in 10th grade, Day founded a charity club called "Sunshine of Love" and since then the young man has become the leader, holding the position of chairman throughout the club.

Sunshine of Love is a gathering place for students, workers, and volunteers with the mission of creating connections between compassionate people, ready to spread love to the unfortunate. The beneficiaries are people in difficult circumstances, regardless of location or age.

After more than 5 years of operation, the Club has gone to many places to visit, encourage, give gifts, and teach children at orphanages...

Most recently, in early June, Huu Day and the Loving Sunshine Club organized a free summer class at home for children preparing to enter grade 1 and students from grade 1 to grade 8 to review knowledge before the new school year.

"Organizing summer classes comes from my memories of the past. I used to be taught for free and helped wholeheartedly by teachers. Therefore, I want to use this time to do things that are useful to society and spread the value of love," Day shared.

The class is taught by young volunteers. In addition to Day, there are many other young people, most of whom are still in school, who have actively participated, such as Nguyen Van Doi (grade 12, studying for university entrance exams and helping the class), Truong Khanh Bang (preparing for grade 12) and many others.

In addition to summer classes, Day also regularly participates in and mobilizes funds to support medical treatment and house repairs for the poor, and organizes activities such as: Spring Volunteers, Mid-Autumn Festival for Children, March Border Month, Green Summer...

Huu Day confided: "During the process of operation, sometimes we encountered many difficulties such as fundraising, terrain, and weather, but every time I thought about the situations that were in dire need of help, it motivated me and all the members of the Club to step forward. One time, my group and I went to deliver gifts and it rained continuously. At that time, everyone was wet, but I was very happy that no one gave up! It was a happy and heartwarming memory."

Thinking about the future of Loving Sunshine, Day confided: "In the near future, I want to continue expanding the club's activities, focusing on remote communes, focusing more on supporting poor, studious children and community education work, coordinating with volunteer organizations to organize together."

With these practical and humane actions, Nguyen Huu Day was honored to receive the "Youth contributing to the community" award from the Vietnamese volunteer community. In particular, the Love Sunshine Club in 2023 and 2024 was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union for its outstanding achievements in volunteer activities for the community. At the same time, the Club was certified by the National Volunteer Center as a member of the National Volunteer Network in the Southern region (May 2024 - May 2025) and continued to extend from May 2025 - May 2026.

Gen Z guy Nguyen Huu Day deserves to be a shining example for today's young generation to learn and follow. I believe that his "journey to sow sunshine and warm the world" with the Loving Sunshine Club will grow and become more brilliant.
