VNSI - A prestigious measure of sustainable development

The Vietnam Sustainability Index (VNSI) is a set of indexes developed by HOSE since 2017 to honor listed companies with strong commitments and effective operations in the field of sustainable development. The index reflects the performance of enterprises through strict criteria on Environment - Society - Governance (ESG), playing a role in orienting investors' capital flows, promoting the development of financial markets in a transparent, efficient and socially responsible manner.

The criteria for evaluating and selecting businesses into VNSI include transparent corporate governance practices, environmental protection, social responsibility, environmental and social risk management in business activities, as well as the business's substantial commitment towards sustainable goals.

BIDV receives prestigious awards for sustainable development

BID's second consecutive appearance on the VNSI list clearly affirms the bank's systematic and consistent efforts in ESG strategy, especially continuous improvement in the way it discloses sustainable development information. In 2024, BIDV's Sustainability Report was rated by the Vietnam Listed Company Awards Council (with the participation of the State Securities Commission, ACCA and leading experts) as one of the Top 10 best reports on the stock market. By 2025, BIDV will continue to improve the quality of its reports according to the GRI standards, refer to TCFD indicators and publish the results of its scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas inventory, demonstrating a strong commitment to managing and reducing emissions.

In recent times, BIDV has made its mark with outstanding results in green finance, maintaining its position as the leading bank in the market in green credit balance with VND 80,870 billion (2024). The bank has also pioneered in diversifying sustainable financial products through the issuance of green bonds, sustainable bonds with a total mobilized value of VND 5,500 billion, Green Deposit products and recently the Sustainable Deposit Framework issued in April 2025.

In order to realize the goal of becoming a Net-Zero Bank and accompanying the national Net-Zero goal by 2050, BIDV has completed the implementation of greenhouse gas inventory in scope 1, 2 and continues to research to expand to scope 3 in 2025. This is an important step to help the bank gradually establish green operating standards internally and integrate environmental factors into risk assessment in the credit portfolio.

In particular, BIDV also affirmed its pioneering role by becoming the first Vietnamese bank to develop an Environmental and Social Risk Management Framework (ESMS), a strategic step to promote sustainable supply chains and support businesses in improving growth quality in the global business environment.
