In the 2025-2026 school year, My Duc 1 Primary School has 16 classes with a total of 569 students, of which 29 students are in especially difficult circumstances (4 disabled students receive support for study costs according to the State's policy). Right from the beginning of the school year, the school's Board of Directors proactively reviewed the list, coordinated with local authorities and homeroom teachers to grasp the specific situation of each student and have appropriate and practical support plans.
Since the beginning of 2025, on the occasions of Lunar New Year, the opening of the new school year, and Mid-Autumn Festival, the school has organized the giving of more than 30 gifts to disadvantaged students with a total value of more than 12 million VND. Each gift is a sharing and encouragement, helping students overcome difficulties and confidently strive in studying and training.
One of the typical cases is Trinh Dieu Anh, a 5A student. Her father died early, and Dieu Anh and her three sisters live with their mother, Nguyen Thi Xuan, in Tien Lap village (An Khanh commune). Despite her difficult family situation, she always tries to study well, be polite, and get along with her friends. On every holiday and Tet, she receives attention from her teachers.
Ms. Xuan emotionally shared: “I am very grateful to the Board of Directors and the school for always caring for and giving gifts to encourage Dieu Anh throughout the past school years. This is not only simply material support but also great encouragement for her to happily go to school to study like her peers.”
In order to promptly help students in difficulty, My Duc 1 Primary School also actively mobilizes businesses and philanthropists to accompany in educational and volunteer activities. The school connects with the SOS An Lao group to sponsor 5 students in difficult circumstances; the Professional MC Training Company in the South of Saigon donates 10 gifts (worth 500,000 VND each); the associated centers teaching foreign languages and life skills at the school exempt or reduce tuition fees for 29 students in difficult circumstances, creating conditions for them to fully access learning programs and develop skills.
Teacher Pham Van Long, Principal of My Duc 1 Primary School, said that the Board of Directors and teachers of the school always pay special attention to students in difficult circumstances through many meaningful activities such as exempting or reducing contributions, mobilizing benefactors to support monthly expenses, giving gifts on holidays and Tet...
“We consider this an important task to help students have more motivation to excel, not leaving any student behind,” Mr. Long shared.
Not only taking care of students in school, teachers and students of My Duc 1 Primary School actively participate in volunteer activities for the community. In October 2025, responding to the call to support people in Thai Nguyen province who were heavily affected by storms and floods, the school launched a fundraising movement among all staff, teachers, parents and people.
In just one day, the program received positive response and support. Dozens of relief boxes including water, milk, instant noodles, rice cakes, sausages, medicine, toilet paper, etc. were carefully packaged, labeled and arranged on a 7-ton truck. Among them, Mr. Trinh Van Hai (parent of a 3A student) and Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan (parent of a 3C student) voluntarily sponsored the entire "0 dong" truck to transport goods to the flooded area, directly handing them to local officials and people in difficulty.
For many hours, teachers and parents worked together to sort and load goods. Although they were busy, everyone was radiant and excited because their small contribution spread the warmth of humanity to the people in the flood-affected areas.
“This meaningful activity not only provides timely assistance to people in flood-hit areas but is also a vivid lesson on the spirit of “mutual love and support” for the students in the school. Each gift, each line written in the donation book is proof of the power of love and unity. We deeply appreciate the golden hearts that have joined the school in this humanitarian journey,” said teacher Nguyen Thu Thuy, a teacher at My Duc 1 Primary School.
Head of the Department of Culture and Society of An Khanh Commune, Luong Xuan Tam, assessed that My Duc 1 Primary School not only fulfilled its teaching tasks well but also always actively participated in humanitarian movements for the community. This is a beautiful image, contributing to educating the spirit of sharing and social responsibility for students right from primary school age.
Through practical actions, My Duc 1 Primary School is affirming the role of the school, not only focusing on teaching letters and people but also nurturing and promoting compassion in today's students.
