Jorgen Strand Larsen is expected by Newcastle to solve the problem on the offensive line.

According to The Athletic , Newcastle United are rushing to complete the signing of the Norwegian striker, after witnessing the 25-year-old shine in the second round of the Carabao Cup this season. In the early morning of August 27, Larsen scored an impressive double from the bench, helping Wolves come from behind to beat West Ham United 3-2 at Molineux.

Strand Larsen scored 14 Premier League goals last season and Wolves know that letting him go now could be detrimental to their relegation battle. However, Newcastle, who had a £50m bid rejected earlier this week, have re-entered the race for £55m.

The Magpies want to complete the transfer before the summer transfer window closes on September 1. Sky Sports said Newcastle's £55 million price tag and pressure from the player forced Wolves to give in.

Strand Larsen has expressed his desire to move to St. James' Park. Alongside Strand Larsen, Newcastle are also keen to complete the signing of Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, with a fee in excess of £50m.

Newcastle's aggressive reinforcements in attack come amid uncertainty over Alexander Isak's future. The Swedish striker has continued to refuse to train and play in a bid to force Newcastle to concede on a move to Liverpool. Newcastle have always insisted they want to keep Isak, but the saga has cast a shadow over the club's early season.
