Uruguay 2-0 Brazil
Brazil have just lost the top spot in the 2026 World Cup qualifying group after being held to a draw in the previous match. Coach Fernando Silva's team needed a win against Uruguay to catch up with Argentina. However, Neymar and his teammates had an unsatisfactory match.
Brazil had a full squad for this away trip. Gabriel Jesus played up front, with support from Neymar, Vinicius and Rodrygo behind. However, the team was completely deadlocked in the first half. They even conceded a goal from Darwin Nunez in the 42nd minute.
Neymar was injured in the match against Uruguay.
After conceding the goal, Brazil was at an additional disadvantage with Neymar's injury. The star wearing the number 10 shirt collapsed on the field, clearly showing pain. According to Reuters, Neymar suffered a serious knee injury.
Without Neymar, the yellow-green team played with even less ideas. They tried to find a way into the home team's goal through long-range shots. However, this plan was not effective.
The attack was deadlocked, and the Brazilian defense could not maintain its solidity. In the 77th minute, Darwin Nunez used his physical strength to overcome the central defender duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Marquinhos before passing back to Nicolas de la Cruz to seal the score at 2-0.
