On the same day, the Korea Meteorological Agency also said that a 0.3 meter high tsunami could hit the country's eastern coast from about 9:29 to 10:17 (GMT).

Earlier, a series of earthquakes occurred this afternoon (January 1), including a 7.6-magnitude earthquake that shook a large area on the coast of Japan, accompanied by a major tsunami warning in the central province of Ishikawa.
The earthquake, which also shook buildings in central Tokyo, struck at around 4:10 p.m. local time on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa. The Japan Meteorological Agency confirmed that the epicenter was in the Noto area and that the depth was very shallow.
The Japanese government said it has not yet received any reports of abnormalities at nuclear power plants following the earthquake.
