In the dry season, the lake area reaches about 500 hectares, in the rainy season, the water surface expands to 700 to 900 hectares. Lak Lake is also a place to preserve the unique cultural values of the indigenous M'nong people.
Around Lak Lake are rice fields, interspersed with villages of the M'nong people such as Le village, Jun village, M'lieng village. In the language of the M'nong people, the word "Lak" means "water".

Coming to Lak Lake, visitors will experience gliding on the lake surface by dugout canoe, friendly travel with elephants, enjoy rustic dishes of the M'Nong ethnic group, watch the sunrise and sunset gently falling in the middle of the immense lake.

The lake is surrounded by many mountains, especially in the upstream is the Chu Yang Sin mountain range with a peak of 2,442 m above sea level. Thanks to the primeval forests with rich flora covering, the water source in Lak Lake rarely dries up, even in the dry season of the Central Highlands.

Standing on high ground looking down, Lak Lake is wide and calm, reflecting the silhouette of mountains and forests, bringing majestic natural scenery. Lak Lake is also a large fish farm of the province, providing abundant aquatic products to serve the people's lives.

Recently, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province issued a decision approving the project of Ecotourism, resort and entertainment at the Lak Lake Historical - Cultural - Environmental Forest Management Board for the period 2021 - 2030.

The project aims to preserve and promote the values of natural landscapes; exploit the potential and advantages of biodiversity, scenic spots, and beliefs associated with the cultural identity of ethnic groups. Thereby creating jobs, increasing income, and improving the material and spiritual life of local people.

The project identifies the main tourism product lines here, including: eco-tourism products (types of nature discovery tourism, tourism combined with research on biological resources, geology, and climate); cultural tourism products (community tourism, learning about the customs and practices of local residents in the Central Highlands, historical and archaeological relics, etc.); resort tourism products to restore health and improve the quality of life.
