MINI has recently teamed up with lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina to introduce two unique John Cooper Works cars.

Celebrating craftsmanship, culture and the passionate car community, MINI John Cooper Works and Deus Ex Machina have created a one-of-a-kind personalised vehicle. This JCW is a mobile icon, a lifestyle for those who love speed, combining creativity and exquisite design.

The MINI is not only impressive for its performance, but also for those who love the feeling of breathing this spirit. “The hallmark of MINI models is the combination of innovative design and motorsport dynamics,” says Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI.

“Thanks to the partnership with Deus Ex Machina, MINI takes this philosophy to the next level and creates exciting trends for fans and motorsport enthusiasts. The two parties are united by their ‘passion for machines, innovation and creativity’ with their communities,” says Stefan Richmann.

Both models are based on the MINI John Cooper Works platform. The first is the MINI JCW Electric with up to 258 hp, the second is the MINI JCW with an internal combustion engine with 231 hp. The hood is decorated with a white 'X', symbolizing the connection between the two iconic brands - MINI JCW x DEUS.

“In this special collaboration, we are presenting two cars that recall MINI’s history and success in motorsport. Every detail is crafted with precision and craftsmanship. This creates unique characters that clearly feel like they belong together through the distinctive design language and use of graphics,” says Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

Instead of perfection, authenticity is paramount: the designers speak of a 'raw, handcrafted approach' that celebrates the 'beauty of imperfection'. On the exterior, expressive graphics include numbers, geometric elements and bright colours that pay homage to MINI's racing history.

Built as a pair of opposing energies. One was born on the shore: inspired by surfboards, sea spray, and the minimalist rhythm of beach life. The other was forged on the racetrack: lean, agile, and driven by a passion for speed and precision.

The electric show car ‘The Skeg’ is a quiet, minimalist rebellion, inspired by the materials, technology and philosophy of the surfing world : fiberglass, acceleration and minimalism. The bodywork makes a bold first impression with its vibrant gold and silver paintwork – a nod to MINI’s progressive approach to electric mobility.

Inside, analog controls are kept to a minimum, reflecting a surf culture that prioritizes function over sleekness. Fiberglass trays for surf gear serve as practical storage solutions and bring surf culture into the interior. Neoprene upholstery on lightweight, water-resistant, and comfortable racing seats creates a connection to surfing.

The car’s dashboard is inspired by surfboard technology: light, durable and visually striking. The large ‘X’ returns as a visual highlight, while the Deus Collection badges and 3D-printed details on the dashboard serve as subtle nods to a shared culture – one based on craftsmanship, connection and the quest for adventure.

The Machina - the John Cooper Works car brings together the compact power of raw engineering and motorsport blood. Inspired by motorsport, it represents pure racing passion and authentic performance. The exterior design pays tribute to MINI's motorsport heritage. Every feature has been carefully selected with a focus on function and emotion.

The red, white and black paint scheme, along with bold accents and the Deus lettering at the rear, make a statement. Classic wheel arch extensions recall the racing heritage, combining form and function, while four additional hood-mounted headlights pay homage to its rally roots.

The interior features three distinct John Cooper Works colors: red, white and black. The 5-point seat belt hugs the driver's body with precision. The switches are classic, with only a direct mechanical connection between thought and action. Each button has a clear function. The hydraulic handbrake with a large lever exudes precision and control.

The MINI x Deus Ex Machina collection builds on the shared DNA of both brands – precision engineering, timeless style and obsessive attention to detail. Premium materials and thoughtful tailoring are standard across the range, with each piece reflecting Deus’ commitment to craftsmanship and reputation for creating clothing that transitions between lifestyle and heritage.
