The journey to find mother from a story on a bus

A year ago, on a bus trip to Switzerland, Arthur happened to chat with a Vietnamese girl who was also adopted in France. She was fortunate to be reunited with her relatives in Vietnam thanks to posting information on a social media group.

"For me, it was a fateful encounter. If it weren't for that bus ride, I probably wouldn't know where to start," he recalls.

After the Christmas reunion meal in 2024, in the warm house, Arthur and his adoptive parents reopened the file containing all the clues about the early days of his life. He carefully flipped through each page stained with time and paused for a long time on a few pieces of information.

According to the birth certificate, the boy was born on August 19, 1994 at Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi, named Vu Van Dau, and his mother was Nguyen Thi Hoi, living in Duong Xa commune, Gia Lam district. The boy was adopted by a French family with the new name Arthur Chareire.

After some time of thinking, the young man decided to post his personal information on a group for adopted children in France. Contrary to his expectations, Arthur's search for relatives did not progress.

"Finding my family in Vietnam was not as quick as I thought. At that time, I decided to leave the company I co-founded to focus on finding my roots," Arthur recalls.

Arthur said that when he started his journey to find his mother, he never dared to think of this happy moment of reunion.

The turning point in Arthur’s journey to find his mother came after an article about his unfortunate fate was published in Dan Tri newspaper . A few days later, a family in Hanoi contacted the newspaper’s hotline, confirming that the French director was a blood relative.

Thanks to this connection, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi, living in Gia Lam - the person with matching information - personally came to the Dan Tri newspaper office - to share her entire life story.

"I cried after seeing Mrs. Hoi's face. My heart told me that she was my biological mother. I was excited but still wanted to do a DNA test to get the most certain result," Arthur shared.

Mrs. Hoi said that when she gave her child up for adoption, she only hoped that he would have a happier life than living with his mother in difficult circumstances.

The moment the DNA test results confirmed that he and Mrs. Hoi were mother and son, Arthur was overwhelmed with emotion.

After years of psychological trauma due to feelings of loneliness and abandonment, the spread of Dan Tri newspaper helped him fulfill his long-cherished wish.
