Currently, the unburnt brick and commercial concrete factory of Tuan Hai Construction & Trading Company Limited (Yen Hoa commune) only produces about 3 million bricks/year while the design capacity is up to 10 million bricks/year.

Currently, unburnt brick products in the province are mostly supplied to construction projects using state budget capital.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Nam - Director of the company said: "The company's unburnt brick products are mainly used for auxiliary items, people have not yet boldly used them in the main structures of individual houses. Therefore, the company's production activities are still stagnant, the scale cannot be expanded".

Currently, many units producing unburnt construction materials in the province are also in a similar situation. Toan Cau unburnt brick factory (belonging to An Viet Construction Investment & Trading Joint Stock Company) has a designed capacity of 30 million bricks/year, but the actual output only reaches about 50 - 60% of the capacity.

Mr. Duong Chi Viet - Factory Director shared: "In recent times, the company has actively introduced products, reduced costs, supported transportation, provided construction technical advice and provided full standard parameters so that businesses and people can feel secure in using them. However, the current consumer market is still mainly focused on projects using state budget capital, while small and individual projects of people are still limited, making it difficult for businesses to maintain operations."

Tran Chau Construction Investment Company Limited (Cam Xuyen Industrial Park, Cam Binh Commune) is one of the pioneers in producing unburnt construction materials.

As one of the pioneers in the production of unburnt bricks in the province, Tran Chau Construction Investment Company Limited (Cam Xuyen Industrial Park, Cam Binh Commune) has invested in installing a modern, synchronous European technology line, with a designed capacity of 110 million bricks/year. Thanks to proactive market expansion, the enterprise has gradually approached many different customer groups, with relatively stable sales output.

However, according to Mr. Tran Van Chau - Director of Tran Chau Construction Investment Company Limited, the current market for unburnt construction materials in the province is generally not large in demand and scale while the supply is quite abundant because many facilities have been invested and put into operation . Therefore, businesses not only have to endure high competitive pressure but also face a situation where the consumption rate is not commensurate with production capacity.

Many unburnt brick manufacturing enterprises find it difficult to produce at design capacity.

Although it is considered a material with many advantages (lower cost than burnt bricks, environmentally friendly, taking advantage of by-products from industrial production, etc.) and has had certain incentive and support policies, unburned construction materials (mainly unburned bricks) in Ha Tinh have not yet fully exploited their potential. Currently, most of the unburned brick output in the area is mainly consumed through construction projects using State budget capital, while the application rate in civil works is still quite low.

In the field of civil construction and individual housing, the application rate of unburnt construction materials is still low due to people's habits and preference for burnt bricks.

The reason is determined to be that the types of unburnt building materials are not diverse, most of them are just cement-based bricks, so they do not meet the design needs and choices of the market; the initial production cost is high because of the investment cost of large production lines and machinery, reducing the competitiveness with traditional burnt bricks. In addition, looking at the reality, currently, in the market, there are still some products with limited waterproofing and anti-cracking ability, affecting the psychology and trust of people, contractors, and investors in the process of choosing and using unburnt building materials.

In particular, in the field of civil construction and individual housing, the application rate of unburnt building materials is still low due to people's habits and preference for burnt bricks. Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat - Director of SDA Architecture - Interior Joint Stock Company (Thanh Sen Ward) shared: "Unburnt bricks are considered an inevitable trend in the construction materials industry. However, consumer habits, price factors, construction techniques and an unsynchronized production ecosystem are major barriers. Market expansion is only truly effective when there is synchronization from manufacturing enterprises to distribution channels and, more importantly, makes consumers feel reasonable and secure to use".

Businesses need to focus on investing in modern production technology to produce diverse products and ensure quality so that consumers can choose with peace of mind.

From the reality of production and consumption, it can be seen that promoting the market of unburnt construction materials also requires stronger participation from management agencies. Implementing Decision No. 2171/QD-TTg dated December 23, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the program for developing unburnt construction materials, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 246/KHUBND dated July 4, 2023 on deploying the use of unburnt construction materials in construction works in the province by 2030. Accordingly, Ha Tinh strives to produce and use unburnt construction materials to replace about 40 - 45% of burnt clay bricks by 2030.

According to Nguyen Van Mai - Head of Construction Management Department (Ha Tinh Department of Construction), recently, the province has issued many policies and incentive mechanisms for enterprises investing in the production of unburnt bricks in the area. The Department of Construction will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to strengthen inspection and supervision of product quality in circulation on the market. At the same time, coordinate with relevant agencies to promote propaganda, raise awareness of investors, construction units and people about the advantages and effectiveness of unburnt materials; encourage research to improve product quality, overcome limitations in waterproofing and anti-cracking; continue to propose credit support policies, loans to support enterprises.

Besides, businesses operating in this field also need to focus on investing in modern production technology to produce diverse products and ensure quality so that consumers can choose with peace of mind.
