"I didn't sleep all night. It was like a dream. I had prepared a lot of words to say, but right now I'm really confused and emotional. Thank you, thank you... I don't know how many words I can say to thank you for this miracle," said the French director.

Unable to hug each other after many years apart, Mrs. Hoi approached the TV screen and looked at her son.
She hugged her arms to her chest as if she were holding her son in her arms. On the other side of the screen, Arthur Chareire said he had a good look at his mother's face and saw that they had many similarities.

Touch your child through the screen
The first words Mrs. Hoi said to her son after 31 years were words of thanks to Arthur Chareire's adoptive parents for many years of raising, caring for and loving her son.
Staying up all night to wait, the French director was overwhelmed when he heard the result. He said: "I want to return to Vietnam as soon as possible to hug my mother. Thank you, mother."
When listening to her son share, Mrs. Hoi choked up and said that this was also the moment she had always dreamed of but never dared to think of. However, she advised her son to first take care of his health, work hard and arrange time to visit his hometown when possible.
The French director shared that hisfamily in France really appreciates this reunion. The members hope to meet his Vietnamese mother soon.

During the entire conversation, Mrs. Hoi did not leave the live screen. The mother kept wiping away tears. She told her son about the days when she was pregnant with him and had to stay in the hospital for treatment.
"I looked forward to the moment I could meet you, but when I gave birth to you, I was afraid that if you were with me, you would have to live a miserable life and face many difficulties.
"I was forced to make a difficult decision, a decision that tormented me throughout the following days: to give you up for adoption," said Mrs. Hoi.
This woman confided that she did not expect that through the connection of Dan Tri newspaper , she would be able to meet her son again. What she is most happy about is that her son is healthy and growing up.
"I thought this was a dream. For many years, I always believed that one day I would meet my child," said Mrs. Hoi.
Sharing about his plans after finding his mother, the young director said: "I plan to make short documentaries to better understand Vietnam and for the French to better understand their homeland. I hope that I will have a whole new chapter in Vietnam, living and working in Vietnam, not just stopping at a visit."

The letter the son stayed up all night writing to his mother
At the meeting, Arthur read the letter he wrote during sleepless nights to his biological mother.
Mom!
Last night, I couldn't sleep. If you're reading this, it means that the DNA test results confirm that you and I are related.
After 30 years of silence and 4 weeks of waiting, we finally met.
My French name is Arthur. It was given to me by my adoptive mother Monique and adoptive father Philippe, along with my older sister Julie and older brother Matthieu. My adoptive parents gave me a life full of love.
Thanks to them, my childhood was very happy. Now, I live with a job that I am passionate about. My adoptive parents always mention my birth mother with respect. Today, they also want to thank her from the bottom of their hearts, hoping that one day they will meet her to express it directly.
I understand that the choice you had to make 30 years ago was painful, but I want to thank you.
Thank you for giving birth to me. Thank you for having the courage to give me to another family. That act of love has helped me grow into the man I am today.
It all feels like a dream to me, because it all happened remotely through the screen. But I can't wait to meet you in Vietnam. Most of all, I want to know everything about you: your life story, your dreams, your life. I'm so excited to explore Vietnam - it's not only my childhood dream but also my biggest goal in life.
I am extremely grateful to Mr. Huynh Tan Sinh - whom I met through an organization to reunite adopted children in France. He has been with me since the first days of my search.
I also want to thank the editorial board of Dan Tri newspaper.
It was thanks to them and the kindness of the Vietnamese community that my mother and I were able to find each other again.
At the end of the conversation, Arthur Chareire shared that he used to think he was an unhappy person. However, when he started his journey to find his mother, he realized that this was the path to happiness.
"I don't know how many times I have to say thank you to express my heart and gratitude.
I am very grateful to Dan Tri newspaper and GENTIS for supporting me. I recently saw pictures of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. I feel very proud to be Vietnamese and look forward to the day I will return home."

Special inspiration from the article in Dan Tri newspaper
A month ago, through the Dan Tri electronic newspaper, French director Arthur Chareire (born 1994, Vietnamese name Vu Van Dau) shared his life story with the desire to find his birth mother.

Realizing that there was a lot of information that matched the content of the article, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi came directly to the editorial office to tell the story of her birth and giving up her child for adoption in 1994. This woman wanted to do a DNA test so that mother and child would have a chance to reunite after many years apart.
After being connected by Dan Tri newspaper , the young director immediately sent hair and nail samples to Vietnam for DNA testing at Gentis International Testing Center.
On the afternoon of May 20, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi was present at the center to collect samples.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter , Ms. Hoi said: "After reading the article, I was very nervous. Looking at the picture of my child in the newspaper, I had a special feeling: This is definitely my child. At my old age, I want nothing more than to be reunited with my child after many years."
When talking about the people who have raised her children for more than three decades, Mrs. Hoi could not hide her emotion and gratitude.
"I would like to thank Arthur's adoptive parents for taking care of and loving him for many years. Thanks to them, my son grew up in a well-off environment, was able to study, mature, and had the opportunity to return to Vietnam to find his biological mother," Ms. Hoi confided in tears.

According to Mrs. Hoi, in 1994, she became pregnant. After examination, the doctor discovered that the fetus was weak, so she had to be hospitalized for 3 months. On August 19, 1994, she gave birth to a baby boy weighing 2.6 kg at Bach Mai Hospital and named him Vu Van Dau.
"At that time, I was a single mother, a farmer. If I lived with her, she would suffer. When I decided to give her up for adoption, I only wanted her to have a happier life," Ms. Hoi recalled.
For many years, that memory still tormented this woman. Without any contact information from her son, she kept doing good deeds and always prayed that baby Dau would be safe and healthy.
For the past 31 years, she never thought she would find her son because she had almost no information at all. The turning point in her life came after she had information that matched a young man living in France who was looking for his mother.
All night anxiously waiting for the results
Speaking to Dan Tri reporter from France, Arthur Chareire said that he could not sleep all night because he was anxiously waiting for the DNA test results.
"I was very stressed and emotional because I didn't expect the process of finding my birth mother to be so quick," Arthur shared.
As soon as he received the results confirming his blood relationship with Mrs. Hoi, Arthur called his adoptive mother. This woman could not hide her joy and emotion when her son had fulfilled his long-standing wish.

"Even though I have found my biological mother, I am still grateful to my adoptive mother and family in France. I am lucky to have been loved and cared for by them since I was a child," he shared.
The young director believes that it is not easy to reconnect with his biological family after many years of separation. Arthur is not yet ready to meet his mother, but he hopes to connect so that his adoptive mother and Mrs. Hoi can talk to each other.
"I don't know what I will say to Mrs. Hoi when we meet again in Vietnam. I hope everything will come naturally, as my heart tells me, without any preparation or script," Arthur confided.
Arthur is expected to return to Vietnam in October, one month earlier than planned. He wants to learn the procedures so he can stay in his homeland longer, explore Vietnam and strengthen his emotional ties with his mother's family.
