According to UTV (Iraq), the Japan Football Association is dissatisfied with the AFC's management and unfair decisions. Therefore, they are considering leaving the Asian football authority to form their own federation, called the East Asian Football Confederation.

JFA believes that AFC is dependent on funding from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Therefore, the Asian football governing body has made many unfair decisions, favoring representatives from West Asia.
Football Tribe (Japan) contacted important sources within the JFA to ask about this information. An anonymous JFA official revealed: “The information is completely baseless. No one knows where the origin of this rumor comes from. These are just nonsense rumors.”
Although the possibility of Japan leaving AFC is almost unlikely, they still have simmering dissatisfaction with this organization.
One of the controversial points is the AFC's change in the competition format of the two Asian Cups C1 and C2. Accordingly, the AFC decided to organize matches from the quarter-finals onwards in the West Asia region, which made many clubs in Japan in particular and East Asia in general feel dissatisfied.

In the near future, the possibility of Japan and many other teams leaving the AFC to form the East Asian Football Confederation is unlikely. However, if the Asian football authority fails to resolve the simmering dissatisfaction, it is likely that many teams will consider leaving the AFC.
Historically, there have been many national football federations that have changed continents, such as Israel moving from Asia to Europe or Australia moving from Oceania to Asia. However, it is unprecedented for a country to separate and form its own federation that operates similarly to a continental federation.
