According to UTV channel, the Japan Football Association (JFA) feels dissatisfied with the AFC's management and unfair decisions. Therefore, they are considering leaving the Asian football authority to form their own federation, called the East Asian Football Confederation.

The Football Association of the Land of the Rising Sun believes that the AFC is dependent on funding from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. As a result, the Asian football governing body has made many unfair decisions, favoring representatives from West Asia.
It is worth mentioning that many football teams are supporting Japan to split off and form its own football federation. Newspaper 163 revealed: “The Japan Football Association is preparing to leave the Asian Football Confederation. The JFA plans to establish a new East Asian Football Confederation.
Surprisingly, Australia, Uzbekistan, and even Iraq all want to join the East Asian Football Federation, along with China, Japan, and South Korea. In addition, this alliance can invite some Southeast Asian teams such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. It can be said that the competitive environment of the new federation (if established) will be extremely harsh.
The 163 newspaper said that the Chinese Football Association would be in a “dilemma” if many teams split from the AFC. The newspaper added: “If the AFC is split into two confederations, West Asia and East Asia, the Asian region’s World Cup spots will likely be split in half.

There is simmering dissatisfaction as the AFC is said to have made many biased decisions towards West Asian teams such as Saudi Arabia or Qatar (Photo: Getty).
At that time, the Chinese Football Association will be in a difficult position when deciding whether to stay in the AFC, where West Asian teams are the majority, or join the new East Asian Football Federation, where there are many strong teams. Choosing neither place is an ideal decision for Chinese football.
Historically, there have been many national football federations that have changed continents, such as Israel moving from Asia to Europe or Australia moving from Oceania to Asia. However, it is unprecedented for a country to separate and form its own federation that operates similarly to a continental federation.
