Storm Fengshen moves very fast, Quang Ninh - Lam Dong is ready to respond

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 4:00 a.m. this morning, October 20, the center of storm Fengshe (storm No. 12) was at about 17.5 degrees north latitude; 117.2 degrees east longitude, about 540 km east-northeast of Hoang Sa special zone.

The strongest wind near the storm center is level 9, equivalent to 75 - 88 km/h, gusting to level 11. The storm is moving northwest at a very fast speed, about 25 km/h.

Forecast by 4:00 a.m. on October 21, the storm is located at about 18.4 degrees north latitude and 112.9 degrees east longitude, about 180 km north-northeast of Hoang Sa special zone. The storm's intensity is likely to increase to level 11, gusting to level 13. In the next 24 hours, the dangerous sea area during storm Fengshen is from 15.5 to 20.5 degrees north latitude and 111.0 to 119.0 degrees east longitude.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that due to the influence of storm Fengshen, from today, the sea area in the northern East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone) will have strong winds of level 7-8; the area near the storm's eye will have strong winds of level 9-11, gusting to level 13; waves 3-5 m high, the area near the storm's eye will be 5-7 m high, and the sea will be very rough.

Typhoon Fengshen has strengthened to level 9 and entered the East Sea and is moving very quickly.

Also according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of the circulation of storm Fengshen and cold air combined with easterly wind disturbances and terrain effects, from October 22 to 27, from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai , there is a high possibility of widespread, prolonged heavy rain, with some places experiencing very heavy rain, with a high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas. It is necessary to be ready to respond to floods on rivers from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai that may rise to alert level 3 and exceed alert level 3.

On the afternoon of October 19, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee issued a telegram requesting ministries, branches and People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Lam Dong to closely monitor developments and be ready to respond to storm No. 12.

Localities strictly manage vessels going out to sea; organize counting and notify owners of vessels and captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of storm Fengshen so that they can proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas. Ministries, branches and localities are ready with forces and means for rescue when requested.
