'Rich' flowers costing 1 million VND each are still popular on October 20th

On Vietnamese Women’s Day, October 20th this year, the fresh flower market in Hanoi is bustling with brilliant colors. Besides familiar domestic flowers, unique imported flowers also attract customers, although the prices are not cheap.

Mr. Le Tu Duy Nam, manager of Lux Flowers store (Hai Ba Trung street, Hanoi) said that this year, the South African emperor hydrangea continues to have the highest price, up to about 700,000 - 1 million VND/flower. However, this is still a flower that is favored by many customers, most of whom are wealthy.

"South African Emperor's Herbaceous Plant" is the national flower of South Africa, also known as "Coral" or "Moonlight" Herbaceous Plant with main colors of orange, yellow, red. According to Mr. Nam, the flowers are transported directly from South Africa. To have a complete bouquet, customers may have to spend up to tens of millions of dong, or can choose to mix this type of flower with other types to save costs.

In addition to South African roses, Ecuadorian roses priced from 120,000 - 200,000 VND/flower depending on size are also popular with many customers.

Ecuadorian roses are famous for their large size, with flowers reaching 7-12cm in diameter. Baskets of colorful Ecuadorian roses cost about 4 million VND/basket.

According to the store manager, all the flowers are imported from Ecuador.

Mr. Nam added that this year, October 20th falls on Monday, so customers ordered flowers early, and the number of orders increased 3 to 4 times compared to normal days.

Dutch tulips cost 80,000 - 100,000 VND/flower and are also the flower model that many customers ask to buy.

Colorful chrysanthemums cost 100,000 - 120,000 VND/flower.

Dutch hydrangea flowers stand out with bright colors such as pink, purple, blue... priced at 250,000 VND - 300,000 VND/flower.

According to the store representative, this year, the price of imported high-end flowers increased by about 10% due to the fluctuation of the USD exchange rate. The price of domestic flowers is stable because the store has had a long-term import relationship for many years.

Fresh flowers are considered a meaningful gift to express feelings to women on October 20.

In the days leading up to October 20, employees at flower shops had to work at full capacity to deliver orders to customers on time.
