Coach Diego Simeone's team arrived in London to prepare for the Champions League match on the morning of October 22 at 2:00 a.m. (Vietnam time).
As usual, Atletico Madrid were present and held a familiarization session at Emirates Stadium the evening before the match day.
Notably, Atletico Madrid players encountered an incident that made the players and coaching staff feel unhappy. Specifically, the hot water in the players' bathroom was completely cut off.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca , Atletico Madrid expressed confusion, anger and surprise that a modern stadium like Emirates lacked a basic facility like hot water.
The incident was reported to Arsenal by Atletico Madrid officials as early as 6:45pm, just as training began. Simeone's training session was scheduled to end at 7:30pm, but the players returned to the dressing room 15 minutes early to find the problem still unresolved.
Although the hot water was fixed at 7:25 p.m., Simeone and his players decided not to wait. They quickly boarded the team bus and returned to the hotel to shower.
In response to the opponent's harsh reaction, Arsenal immediately apologized to the Spanish club, emphasizing that this incident had never happened before at the Emirates. However, this unprofessional action caused Atletico Madrid to decide to file an official complaint to UEFA.
