Attending the ceremony were Ms. Gillian Bird - Australian Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Do Vinh Quang - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of T&T Group and Chairman of Hanoi Club.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Vinh Quang shared: "2025 is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Hanoi Club. With the presence of coach Harry Kewell, Hanoi Club hopes that the team will have systematic development, realizing the goal of reaching the continental level in the next 20 years.
Approaching a high-class coach like Harry Kewell is not easy and the capital team had to spend a lot of time negotiating, exchanging and getting the nod. Harry Kewell's only goal when coming to Hanoi is to win with Hanoi."
Answering Tuoi Tre Online 's question about his decision to accept the job and what was the biggest challenge when coming to Hanoi FC, Coach Harry Kewell said: "Football always has pressure and for me, working at Hanoi FC is also a pressure. However, I am ready to face those things. I can guarantee that I will work very hard and make an effort.
My football philosophy depends on the quality of the players I have and how we work together every day. To play like Arsenal or Liverpool, it requires people and time. I am a coach who always tries to adapt and do everything to achieve my goals. My experience in leading teams in the Premier League, Japan... helps me always know how to take advantage of every moment, learn to play beautiful football and get the best results.
At Hanoi FC, they not only have ambition for achievements but also identity and pride. That makes me extremely excited when I accepted the invitation to come to Vietnam to work and lead the team."
Ms. Gillian Bird - Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, said Harry Kewell is a star of Australian sports . It is a pride to see the former player here to contribute, connecting the two sports, the two countries of Vietnam and Australia.
Previously, on October 4, Hanoi Club announced the appointment of Mr. Harry Kewell (former Liverpool player, UEFA Champions League champion) as head coach.
Mr. Kewell comes to replace the position that coach Makoto Teguramori (Japan) left after Hanoi's poor performance at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season. Coach Harry Kewell is expected to bring a new atmosphere, bringing Hanoi back to the goal of returning to the top position of V-League and conquering the Asian arena.
Hanoi FC is the most successful team in Vietnamese professional football for nearly 2 decades. However, in the last 3 years, Hanoi has suffered a "brain drain" when a series of players trained by themselves left such as: Quang Hai, Viet Anh, Van Hau... The capital team also changed dozens of coaches from Asia to Europe because their achievements were not as expected.
Currently, Hanoi Club is temporarily ranked 6th after round 6 of V-League 2025-2026 with 8 points.
