Transfer to the investigation agency for handling if there is a criminal violation

On December 1, the People's Committee of An Giang province announced that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province - signed an official dispatch to fix the power outage in Phu Quoc special economic zone that occurred on November 29.

Accordingly, the leaders of An Giang Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction and the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with relevant units to urgently fix the power outage in Phu Quoc special economic zone.

The relevant unit must clarify the cause and report the remedial plan and completion time to fix the above power outage.

In addition, clarify the responsibilities of relevant individuals and organizations to propose to the People's Committee of An Giang province to review responsibilities. In case of criminal violations, report and transfer to the police for investigation and handling according to the law.

The Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with An Giang Electricity Company to come up with a temporary plan to fix the problem of the 110kV underground cable line Ha Tien - Phu Quoc to supply electricity to the people.

How do Phu Quoc residents manage to use electricity?

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - a resident of Cua Can (Phu Quoc special zone) - said that in 2014, the national grid was brought to the island via the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable, and people were excited because their lives were developing.

However, over the past two days (November 29th to now), the power has been out for a long time, sometimes on and sometimes off, so Mr. Hoa and many local people have had difficulty in daily life and watering their crops.

"I just asked an acquaintance to order 2 generators (priced at 25 million VND) from Rach Gia to send to Phu Quoc to generate electricity to pump water for watering plants and for family use. Motels and hotels now have to run generators regularly to serve their business and tourists, so the cost is also very high," said Mr. Hoa.

According to Mr. NVD - owner of a homestay in Duong Dong, after a power outage for a day, his place was lucky to have electricity again. But the Cua Can and Cua Duong areas still have rotating power outages. There are many tourists traveling, so some accommodation facilities are overloaded.

An Giang Electricity Company informed that the scope of the impact level due to the incident of the 110kV underground cable Ha Tien - Phu Quoc includes: part of Duong Dong, Cua Can, Ganh Dau, Bai Thom areas...

While waiting for the above problem to be fixed, the relevant unit has a temporary solution of supplying electricity from the 110/22kV Nam Phu Quoc station source through the 22kV medium voltage grid with the capacity to meet about 25MW of load.

In particular, ensure electricity for local party and government agencies, schools and hospitals; rotate power supply by area to supply electricity to people and encourage customers and accommodation establishments to use generators while waiting for the above problem to be resolved.

Which company's project in Ha Tien caused the widespread power outage in Phu Quoc?

The leader of Ha Tien ward confirmed that the location of the widespread power outage in Phu Quoc belongs to the investment project to build the main coastal road to the center of Ha Tien city - now in To Chau ward, An Giang (the above project is not the road project leading to Ha Tien general port).

The coastal road project has a total length of about 13km, with a total investment of about 1,400 billion VND.

This route has a scale of 6 lanes, 41m wide with a sea bridge system. This road will bring a new look to To Chau and Ha Tien with public beaches and create momentum for local economic and tourism development.

Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that An Giang Electricity Company determined the initial cause was that Thuan Thanh KG Construction Design Consulting Company Limited was constructing a runway along Ha Tien's coastline (about 300m), affecting the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable.

The incident caused widespread power outage in Phu Quoc on November 29.
