This is one of the topics that has been debated quite a lot recently, revolving around the scandal of falsifying documents to naturalize Malaysian football players.
Recently, FAM Vice President Datuk S. Sivasundaram confirmed that the entire incident originated from a complaint filed by a Vietnamese person on June 11.
"On June 11, an individual from Vietnam filed a complaint. And this person questioned the authenticity of documents related to naturalized Malaysian players," said Datuk S. Sivasundaram, as reported on Makan Bola.
According to the Vice President of FAM, the time "a Vietnamese person" sent a complaint to FIFA was 1 day after Malaysia's shocking 4-0 victory over Vietnam.
There has been much debate about the reasons for the FIFA investigation into Malaysia. When the case broke in late September, Malaysian media initially suspected that they were being sued by Indonesia, given the hostile relationship between the two football powers.
The President of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Mr. Erick Thohir, later spoke up to clarify that they were not interested in matters that were not theirs.
After that, the Malaysian press continued to assume that Vietnam had filed a complaint. And they also claimed that they were "played dirty" because there was a Vietnamese person on the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
But regarding FIFA's investigation and trial process, Vietnamese people present on the Disciplinary Committee will not be able to participate in the case because of regulations ensuring impartiality.
Instead, it is understandable that Vietnam complained to FIFA about the eligibility of Malaysian players, because questions about these naturalized players have long been raised by the regional media.
