Wholeheartedly for the people, devoted to the village

Born in 1964, after years of military service, in 1987 Mr. Thang returned to his hometown. The veteran not only developed his family's economy but also enthusiastically participated in social work. He worked as an accountant for a credit cooperative, then as a part-time police officer at the commune level. In every role, he always maintained a spirit of discipline, responsibility and devoted himself to the common work.

In 2012 he was elected village chief until now.

The village chief's job is nameless and has no timetable. Mr. Thang shared: "My personality is straightforward. When I accept a task assigned by the people, I have to do it responsibly. What I say must go hand in hand with what I do, and what I do must be done thoroughly. I live in the village, I cannot be careless." That's why the image of the village chief on an old red motorbike often cruising around the village roads, and in the afternoon visiting and chatting with the farmers has become a familiar feature of the people of Duc Tien village.

Duc Tien village has up to 400 households with more than 1,500 people, but when it comes to each house, each plot of land, each household, he knows clearly. Mr. Thang is a solid support for the people, an indispensable link to unite the people, to overcome difficulties and rise up to build their lives. During natural disasters and storms, he is the first to arrive, helping the people overcome the consequences. The commune assigned the task of reviewing the damage caused by storms and floods, he is the one who knows the area well, understands which house suffered the most damage, which field was completely lost. When the commune implemented the land data collection campaign, the commune officials only needed to mention the address, he immediately knew which household it was, what the origin of the land was. "With Mr. Thang, the work of the village always runs smoothly," Mr. Nguyen Van Sanh, a civil servant of the Economic Department in charge of agriculture, Hoan Giang Commune People's Committee happily said.

To help people be proactive in doing business and developing the economy, Mr. Thang actively encouraged households to change crops, bring in high-yield commodity crops into cultivation, and focus on applying science and technology in production. The village actively participated in the work of exchanging fields, consolidating plots, and accumulating land, so many effective production models have been formed in the village, such as the model of growing queen melons and flowers in greenhouses... With more effective production models, people in the village have more jobs, and their income has also increased.

Implementing the New Rural Development Program, Duc Tien village is one of the leading villages in the locality to be recognized as a model new rural village since 2021. Mr. Thang said that in 2021, when starting to build a model new rural village, there was "countless work". From mobilizing people to donate land to open roads, building cultural houses, renovating houses, renovating the landscape... he and the village officials all "rolled up their sleeves to work". The "transformation" of the countryside along the Ma River is increasingly evident. During that journey, the people in the village always mentioned the efforts of the grassroots officials and party members, including the enthusiasm and dedication of village chief Le Duc Thang.

Although time has left wrinkles on Mr. Thang's face, his eyes still show a steadfast passion for dedication. To him, working for the people and the village is not only a responsibility, but also a joy and a reason to live. The village is increasingly rich, civilized, and each house is always warm... all of these combine to create a simple yet profound happiness in the life of the devoted village chief.
