With unwavering dedication to the well-being of the people, conscientiousness in village affairs, and enthusiasm for movements aimed at developing the village, Mr. Le Duc Thang, Head of Duc Tien Village, Hoang Giang Commune, has become a shining example, trusted and loved by the people.

Born in 1964, after years of military service, Mr. Thang returned to his hometown in 1987. This veteran has both developed his family's economy and enthusiastically participated in social work. He worked as an accountant for a credit cooperative and then as a part-time police officer at the commune level. In every role, he always maintained a spirit of discipline, responsibility, and dedication to the common good.

In 2012, he was elected village head, a position he holds to this day.

The village head's job is nameless and without fixed hours. Mr. Thang shared: "My personality is straightforward; once I accept a task entrusted to me by the people, I must do it responsibly. My words must match my actions, and when I do something, I must see it through to the end. I live in the village, so I can't be careless." Therefore, the image of the village head on his old red motorbike, often cruising around the village roads, and in the evenings visiting and chatting with the farmers, has become a familiar sight to the people of Duc Tien village.

Duc Tien village has 400 households with over 1,500 inhabitants, but Mr. Thang knows every house, every plot of land, and every household in detail. He is a solid pillar of support for the people, an indispensable link in uniting the community, working together to overcome difficulties and build a better life. During natural disasters and floods, he is the first to arrive, helping the people overcome the consequences. When the commune assigns the task of assessing damage caused by storms and floods, he is the one who knows the area best, understanding which houses suffered the most damage and which fields were completely destroyed. When the commune implemented the land data collection campaign, commune officials only needed to mention an address, and he immediately knew which household it was and the origin of the land. "With Mr. Thang, the village's work always runs smoothly," said Nguyen Van Sanh, a civil servant in charge of agriculture at the Economic Department of Hoang Giang Commune People's Committee, happily.

To empower villagers to proactively engage in business and economic development, Mr. Thang actively encouraged households to switch crops, introducing high-yield cash crops and focusing on applying science and technology to production. The village actively participated in land consolidation and accumulation, resulting in the formation of many effective production models, such as the cultivation of "Kim Hoang Hau" melons and flowers in greenhouses. With these effective production models, villagers have more jobs, and their incomes have increased accordingly.

Implementing the New Rural Development Program, Duc Tien village is one of the leading villages in the locality, recognized as a model new rural village since 2021. Mr. Thang recounted that in 2021, when they started building the model new rural village, there was "countless tasks." From mobilizing people to donate land for road construction, building a cultural center, renovating houses, improving the landscape... he and the village officials all "rolled up their sleeves and got to work." The "transformation" of the countryside along the Ma River is increasingly evident. Throughout this journey, the people in the village always mention the efforts of the officials and Party members at the grassroots level, including the enthusiasm and dedication of village head Le Duc Thang.

Although time has etched wrinkles on Mr. Thang's face, his eyes remain steadfast with a passion for dedication. For him, working for the people and the village is not just a responsibility, but a joy, a reason for living. The village is becoming increasingly prosperous and civilized, each home is warm and comfortable... all of this combines to create the simple yet profound happiness in the life of this devoted village head.
