Agribank accompanies customers and people to overcome damage after floods

Two consecutive storms No. 10 (Bualoi) and No. 11 (Matmo) have left serious consequences in many provinces in the North and North Central regions, causing great damage to property, crops, traffic, houses, disrupting the lives of tens of thousands of households and businesses. Not only did local authorities and functional forces quickly take action, but right from the first days after the natural disaster, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) proactively activated a series of solutions to accompany people in overcoming the damage, contributing to the early stabilization of life and restoration of production.

Interest rate reduction, debt restructuring - "hot blood" to revive the economy in stormy areas

In order to support customers affected by natural disasters, Agribank has implemented a policy of reducing loan interest rates by up to 2% per year for existing outstanding loans, depending on the actual level of damage. At the same time, the bank considers waiving or reducing interest, restructuring debt repayment terms, helping customers stabilize capital flows and avoid disruptions in production and business activities.

In parallel, Agribank launched a VND5,000 billion credit package specifically for individual customers to overcome the consequences of storms and floods. According to the official announcement, the interest rate in this package is reduced by a maximum of 1.0%/year compared to the normal rate, applicable for a maximum period of six months from the date of disbursement.

In addition to reducing interest rates and injecting new capital, Agribank also directed the entire system to increase customer contact, grasp the specific damage in each locality, coordinate with local authorities and mass organizations to promptly support capital, not allowing people and businesses to "break the credit circuit". At many branches, Agribank staff directly went to the scene, helping customers complete documents, postpone debts, and ensure that capital flows were not blocked.

These timely policies demonstrate Agribank’s flexibility and responsibility in accompanying livelihood recovery, while contributing to stabilizing the credit market in severely affected localities. Thousands of production households, cooperatives and small businesses are quickly accessing preferential capital to reinvest, restore jobs and maintain the basic economic supply chain.

Along with the bank, Agribank Insurance (ABIC) also sent mobile appraisal teams to quickly pay compensation to damaged customers, contributing to reducing financial "shock" and creating conditions for people and businesses to soon restore production and business activities.

The harmonious coordination between credit, insurance, and social security creates a "closed loop" of financial support, helping people fully recover both their lives and their economy after natural disasters.

Sharing with people in flood areas

Along with credit solutions, Agribank simultaneously deployed hundreds of social security activities throughout the system, demonstrating the sustainable spirit of "banking for the community".

Agribank is also the unit selected by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to open an account to receive donations nationwide, helping to connect resources of organizations and individuals to people in storm-hit areas in a transparent, quick and effective manner.

In that spirit, many branches in the entire system have implemented specific actions. In Bac Giang, Agribank donated 1 billion VND to support people in severely flooded areas; officers and employees donated internally, directly delivered necessities to affected households. In Lang Son, the provincial branch donated 300 million VND to support Trang Dinh and That Khe communes, which were heavily affected, and mobilized forces to help people restore production. In Bac Ninh, the bank coordinated with the government to survey the damage, support customers with affected outstanding debts, and help many farming households restructure their debts and access new loans to replant crops. In Thai Nguyen and Ha Giang, Agribank officers went directly to the scene, repaired schools, gave gifts to poor households, and helped children return to class soon after the storm...

Not stopping there, Agribank branches across the system continue to launch many donation programs, support and assistance to customers affected by storms and floods. Many localities such as Quang Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Phu Tho, Son La... have simultaneously implemented gift giving campaigns, supporting the recovery of agricultural production, repopulating livestock and poultry and repairing public works...

Agribank’s prompt and synchronous intervention with local authorities not only helps people overcome immediate difficulties but also maintains production momentum and avoids disruption of the grassroots economy in areas heavily affected by storms and floods. With a wide network, flexible credit policies and a deep spirit of sharing, Agribank is making an important contribution to rebuilding livelihoods, restoring production and stabilizing the local economy.
