The cherry blossoms in the suburbs of Da Lat have bloomed profusely.
Cherry blossoms in the Langbiang mountain area, about 15km from the center of Da Lat, have begun to bloom. Here, the cluster of cherry blossoms, named "Dreamy Peach Blossom Garden" by the locals, is the most striking. The flowers here bloom earlier and more profusely compared to the cherry blossom trees growing on the slopes of Langbiang mountain and the nearby hills.
Reaching the cherry blossom clusters on Langbiang Mountain is not easy. Therefore, most visitors are young people, traveling by motorbike and off-road vehicle.

The area where cherry blossoms bloom earliest is arguably Lac Duong district (near Da Lat). This area is at a higher altitude than Da Lat and also has a larger temperature range and more sunshine. This is what causes the cherry blossoms in this region to bloom earliest. Many tourists travel to Da Sar and Da Nhim, 20-30km from Da Lat, to take photos of the flowers.
Currently, Da Lat experiences alternating hot and cold weather with a wide temperature range, and the dry conditions are ideal for cherry blossoms to bloom evenly and brilliantly. Many locals believe Da Lat will have a spectacular cherry blossom season in the next 10 to 15 days. The peak blooming period coincides with the Lunar New Year, which also impacts tourism in Da Lat.
Most tourists who come to see the flowers in the Langbiang mountain region are young people.
Mr. Tran Dinh Nguyen (a hotel owner in Ward 9, Da Lat) said: "Many accommodation establishments report that this year, in addition to receiving bookings for Tet (Lunar New Year), there are also many tourists booking rooms for the period leading up to Tet. Tourists often ask if the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom by then."
Currently, many cherry blossom trees have fallen on inner-city roads such as Tran Hung Dao, Tran Quoc Toan (near Xuan Huong Lake), and Tran Nhan Tong - Dinh Tien Hoang (around Cu Hill in Da Lat). Most of the cherry blossom trees have shed all their leaves and are about to bud.
The scientific name of the cherry blossom is Prunus Cerasoides. The tree has a trunk that resembles a peach or plum tree, but when it blooms, the flowers are single, with 5 petals (similar to plum blossoms).
Cherry blossoms are often called the flowers that herald the Lunar New Year, because around mid-January is when they bloom to welcome spring. This means that at the beginning of the dry season (around October), the cherry blossoms gradually turn yellow and their branches become "bare," dormant for the winter, waiting for spring to arrive and open their buds.
