In addition, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu also added that not only focusing on expertise with teaching towards developing students' abilities and qualities, the Ho Chi Minh City education sector will promote activities to help students practice skills, physical strength, develop talents... creating a friendly and safe school environment.

In particular, each student is encouraged to know how to play at least one sport and one musical instrument. Swimming will continue to be popularized throughout the city. "I have also assigned the Student Affairs Department to continue implementing the Happy School model. As for secondary schools, if possible, they should organize cooking classes for students to practice their self-service skills," said Mr. Hieu.

The head of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector shared: "On July 3, I asked each specialist of the department to develop a personal plan according to the area of ​​responsibility for the department and division leaders to approve in advance. By the end of July, the department's board of directors will approve the action plan of each department and division.

To improve the quality of education, it is not only necessary to invest in facilities but also to train teachers. Especially teachers who teach new subjects according to the 2018 General Education Program such as: natural sciences , history - geography... Teaching must be based on the requirements of the program to avoid putting pressure on students.

Happy School

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the results of a survey measuring people's satisfaction with public education services in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 (before the merger). Accordingly, the online survey with 485,531 students and parents (from preschool to high school, continuing education centers, vocational secondary schools) gave the following results: the average overall satisfaction score was 4.59/5 and the satisfaction rate reached 98.09%.

In particular, the overall satisfaction rate of students and parents with public education services in Ho Chi Minh City from 2022 to 2025 tends to increase gradually. In 2022, the satisfaction rate was 87%. By 2023, this rate increased to 90%. In 2024, it was 96.19%. By 2025, the rate peaked at 98%.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training assessed that the high rate of satisfaction of parents and students in 2025 affirmed the correctness in implementing the criteria of the "Happy School" model; the innovation of teaching methods, testing and evaluation methods towards developing students' qualities and abilities - in line with the policy of the 2018 General Education Program; students have many opportunities to promote their talents and develop comprehensively...

Speaking to Tuoi Tre, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu informed: "After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City will still persist with the above orientation. In addition, we will continue to maintain the implementation of the target of 300 classrooms/10,000 people; review and implement the project to build 4,500 new classrooms."

Ho Chi Minh City has 2.6 million students.

It is known that after the merger, the Ho Chi Minh City education sector has 2.6 million students and nearly 5,000 public and non-public educational institutions from kindergarten to high school.

On July 3, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City awarded decisions to appoint heads and deputy heads of departments and offices of the department.
