On February 24 in Ho Chi Minh City, Panasonic organized "Green Living Day with Gen G". This is an event to summarize and mark the success of the campaign "Live Green with Gen G" season 2, with the journey to spread a green, healthy lifestyle, reducing CO2 emissions to young people and the community.
Launched by Panasonic in December 2022, the "Live Green with Gen G" campaign has received active participation from young people. With the main message of season 2 - "Live green to reduce carbon quickly", Panasonic has cooperated with the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication (CNREC) and the Central Youth Union network to attract Vietnamese youth with practical and inspirational content. Young people are encouraged to move towards a comprehensive healthy lifestyle, friendly to the environment, and actively contribute to the health and sustainable development of Vietnam. The campaign is an action towards the community, in the journey to realize the goal of reducing CO2 emissions according to the commitment "Panasonic Green Impact".
Within the framework of this year's program, a series of online and in-person activities have provided diverse opportunities for young people to truly be aware of their "carbon footprint", thereby motivating them to practice green living to reduce emissions in their daily lives.
According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, the campaign has achieved remarkable successes, typically: Gen G Unitour is the main outstanding activity to get closer to local youth. The series of events was held at 06 major universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with the goal of "chatting, interacting and listening to students", inspiring the green and sustainable lifestyle of Gen G. The event attracted more than 1,600 students and young people; called for and collected more than 900 kg of used batteries; 626 kg of paper boxes, milk cartons; more than 2,500 plastic bottles and more than 1,000 trees were exchanged. Students actively learned about carbon footprints through exhibition areas and carbon footprint sharing sessions with experts and influencers; enthusiastically participated in recycling activities, connecting with environmentally friendly products.
Along with that, "Green Living Quiz with Gen G" - an online quiz series about reducing carbon footprint, helping to increase awareness and action, has attracted a total of nearly 250,000 participants, with more than 63,000 correct answers to all questions each week.
The “Green Living Challenge” calls on young people to take action and share practical actions to reduce carbon footprints in daily activities. The activity became even more meaningful during the recent Lunar New Year and became a “Green Tet” trend spreading across social media platforms. In total, more than 3,000 green actions were shared, contributing to reducing more than 100 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to 17,000 more trees being planted.
A sideline activity is the "Practice green living" photo contest launched by the Youth Union, which recorded nearly 5,000 photos from individuals and organizations.
Notably, the "Gen G Ambassador" program - the most anticipated and dedicated activity in the campaign, has continued to create a meaningful playground for young people who are eager to research further and propose their own initiatives to solve climate change and environmental issues. The program received more than 150 initiatives from more than 300 young people, aged 18 - 35, nearly double the number in the first year. The top 20 potential initiatives entered the final round and the 5 best initiatives were selected for financial support through Panasonic's Gen G Initiative Fund. Throughout the journey, young people had the opportunity to improve their knowledge and capacity through online seminars, direct training programs and Panasonic factory tours.
Mr. Oka Hiroyuki, Director of Panasonic Vietnam expressed: Through 2 consecutive years of the campaign and accompanying the young generation, Panasonic Vietnam completely believes in the carbon neutral journey. Young people have shown a strong interest in the environment and a willingness to act to create positive impacts for themselves and society, from simple practices in daily life to proposing community-scale solutions, affirming that "GEN G" is the pioneering generation for a green, healthy and sustainable lifestyle, accompanying the Government and businesses, in the journey to combat environmental issues and build a sustainable and healthy Vietnamese society. Panasonic will always accompany the green living generation on that journey.
Also at the event, the Panasonic Green Impact exhibition area introduced environmental protection and sustainable development activities implemented around the world, focusing on energy-saving solutions, emission reduction and comprehensive health care. In particular, each participant who brings a personal water bottle instead of disposable plastic will be "energized" with free healthy fruit juice, encouraging a green and healthy lifestyle.
Panasonic Green Impact was announced in January 2022, with a commitment to achieve CO2 neutrality across all Panasonic group companies globally by 2030 and to reduce CO2 emissions by 300 million tons across the entire value chain by 2050, equivalent to 1% of current global CO2 emissions. |
