The Party Committee of Chiềng Hoa commune presented solar-powered light bulbs to Co Sủ Trên village.
After a week of work at the office, early Saturday morning, members of Task Force No. 23 of Chieng Hoa commune arrived in Chong village to help the villagers clear weeds along the roads; install streetlights along the village's internal roads; dig garbage pits, and build sanitary toilets for households. A bustling and energetic atmosphere permeated the village. Mr. Hoang Van Thai, Vice Chairman of the Chieng Hoa Commune People's Committee and team leader, said: Every week, the task force goes down to the village to clean up the internal roads, encourage households to build sanitary toilets, arrange garbage collection areas, and beautify their living spaces. In addition, the members actively mobilize social contributions of materials such as electric poles, light bulbs, cement, and cash to support the villagers in implementing the criteria for building new rural areas. To date, Chong village alone has mobilized people to contribute over 40 million VND to install 30 streetlights along the internal roads. 70 out of 80 households have sanitary toilets, and 65 household waste incinerators have been built, contributing to raising public awareness of environmental hygiene.
One of the highlights of the movement is that commune officials directly go down to the grassroots level, eating, working, and resolving difficulties arising during implementation. This has created a positive ripple effect, helping people to trust, agree with, and actively participate in local movements. Mr. Lo Van Minh, from Chong village, shared: "Previously, many households did not really care about environmental hygiene. Since officials regularly came down to the village to spread awareness and directly worked with the people to clean up, build toilets, and handle waste, people have become very trusting and followed suit. To date, all households are more conscious of keeping their houses clean, and my family has also built a waste incinerator to handle household waste."

Mr. Lo Van Toan, Party Secretary and Head of Chong village, said: "Whenever the task force comes down to the village, the villagers proactively arrange their family affairs to participate. Many households voluntarily renovate their houses and clean up the village roads without needing reminders; the spirit of solidarity in the community is strengthened, and people have more trust and agreement with the policies of the Party and the State. Currently, the village continues to mobilize people to contribute to installing 4 more streetlights, striving for 100% of the village's internal roads to have lighting, serving convenient travel and contributing to ensuring security and order."
The "Saturday for the People" movement in Chiềng Hoa commune has been implemented simultaneously in all 35 villages on the second Saturday of each month, focusing on 16 key activities such as environmental sanitation, building hygienic toilets, installing street lighting in villages, renovating cultural centers, building "Clean House, Beautiful Garden" models, supporting digital transformation, and promoting the development of cultural life in residential areas. After more than 8 months of implementation, the entire commune has organized over 300 propaganda sessions combined with practical labor; installed nearly 350 solar-powered streetlights in villages with a total cost of over 500 million VND; and supported the repair of nearly 1,000 meters of rural roads. In addition, the people have built over 150 new hygienic toilets and constructed many community-based household waste treatment facilities, contributing to improving the rural environment.

Comrade Vu Van Suan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Chieng Hoa commune, shared: "When officials are close to the people, understand their needs, and work alongside them, policies and resolutions are more easily implemented. Through this program, the commune's Party Committee hopes that people will gradually change their mindset and way of doing things, raise their awareness of environmental hygiene, and build cleaner, more beautiful, and more civilized villages. It is encouraging that when officials go down to the villages to work with the people, the distance between officials and the people is shortened, thereby creating high consensus in implementing socio -economic development tasks in the locality."
Through concrete and practical actions, the "Saturday with the People" movement in Chieng Hoa has contributed to changing the face of the highland villages; becoming a strong bridge between the Party committee, the government, and the people. As a result, every policy and initiative implemented receives support and cooperation from the grassroots, creating an important foundation for the locality to continue fulfilling the criteria for building sustainable new rural areas.
