Nghe An supports people with more than 1,000 billion VND to pay health insurance

(PLVN) - This is the content of the Resolution regulating the level of health insurance support for a number of subjects in Nghe An province, period 2026 - 2030, which was just approved by the People's Council of Nghe An province on the afternoon of June 17.

According to statistics, the cost of medical examination and treatment under health insurance (HI) for ethnic minorities; people in near-poor households; people in households working in agriculture , forestry, fishery and salt production with an average living standard in Nghe An province is very high. In the period of 2020-2024, there were 5,737,621 medical examinations and treatments with a total amount paid by the HI fund of VND 4,350 billion, many cases were paid by the HI fund with large amounts. Therefore, if people do not participate in HI, they will not be able to pay for medical examination and treatment costs when they are sick or ill.

Although Nghe An province has applied synchronous solutions to propagate health insurance policies, from the participation of the entire political system to expanding the system of social insurance and health insurance collection service organizations to the commune level to mobilize people to participate, there is no strong enough economic solution with a breakthrough to support ethnic minorities to participate in health insurance.

The solutions that have been implemented are mainly propaganda and administrative solutions and policies to mobilize social resources to give health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances, but not much has been achieved.

According to the recently passed Resolution, in addition to the support level for health insurance contributions from the Central Budget, the support policy for a number of subjects is as follows:

Support 30% of health insurance premiums for ethnic minorities living in communes that are no longer identified as areas with difficult or especially difficult socio -economic conditions and are supported by the State Budget to pay health insurance premiums according to Government regulations.

Support 30% of health insurance premium for people in near-poor households.

Support 20% of the health insurance premium for people in households working in agriculture, forestry, fishery and salt production with an average living standard. In case a person belongs to many subjects participating in health insurance, they can choose to participate according to the subject with the highest support level.

Estimated support budget for the period 2026 - 2030 is 1,067.73 billion VND.

This Resolution is of great significance in supporting vulnerable groups in society to participate in health insurance, access health services, increase health insurance coverage, and ensure social security.

In addition to the Resolution regulating the level of health insurance support for a number of subjects in Nghe An province, the period 2026 - 2030, the Session also passed 5 important resolutions, which are significant for the economic development and social security work of the province, including:

Resolution on allocating central budget funds for 2025 to implement the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Nghe An province;

Resolution deciding to supplement the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025 and the public investment plan for 2025 to invest in developing socio-economic infrastructure in the western region of Nghe An province;

Resolution approving the list of projects that must change land use purposes with rice growing land area in Nghe An province;

Resolution approving the list of projects requiring land acquisition in Nghe An province;

Resolution on the policy of converting forest use to other purposes to implement projects in Nghe An province.
