Since the beginning of April, Forest Protection Departments and forest owners in many districts of Nghe An have put into operation the PCCCR surveillance camera system.
In Do Luong district, the camera system has been officially put into operation since April 1, installed in the high-altitude area of Quang Son commune. This surveillance device is capable of covering more than 2,000 hectares of pine and acacia forests in communes such as Thuong Son, Thai Son, and Dai Son.

Mr. Vo Si Lam - Head of Do Luong Forest Protection Department said that the camera is designed with the ability to rotate 360 degrees and a viewing range of up to 10km, operating continuously 24/7. Data from the camera is transmitted directly to the server located at the District Forest Protection Department, where staff are on duty around the clock to promptly detect and handle unusual situations.
Not only is the data stored at the Forest Ranger Center, but the surveillance images are also transmitted to the smartphones of district and commune leaders and local forest rangers, helping to improve monitoring and quick response capabilities at all times.

In parallel with operating the camera, Do Luong Forestry Company has also proactively implemented other fire prevention measures such as treating nearly 200 hectares of vegetation in key pine forest areas in My Son and Hoa Son communes. This unit has also prepared 7 fire blowers and hundreds of fire extinguishers to be ready to respond when a situation arises.
At the Len Ngoi Forest Protection Management Station in Ngoc Son Commune, the camera system is also operating effectively. Station Manager Hoang Tri Thuc shared that with just one camera, it is possible to cover 1,200 hectares of forest. Four workers take turns on duty 24/7 to monitor the signal transmitted from the camera, in order to detect early signs of forest fires and respond promptly.

PCCCR work has also been deployed in many other localities in Nghe An province. In Nam Dan district alone, 3 cameras have been installed in high-risk areas such as Nam Giang commune, the area of King Mai Hac De temple in Nam Dan town and Dai Tue pagoda in Nam Anh commune.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Minh - Head of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation Department, Nghe An Provincial Forest Protection Department said: Currently, Nam Dan district has 3, Do Luong 1, Dien Chau 1, Nghi Loc 4, Thanh Chuong 1 and Quynh Luu 1 cameras to detect forest fires early. Installing a camera system not only helps reduce the workload of the guards at the fire watchtowers, but also improves the effectiveness of forest fire prevention.

The camera system is installed at key locations where there is a high risk of forest fires, with the ability to continuously monitor 24/7. This device can detect early signs such as smoke or fire, helping authorities promptly mobilize human resources and equipment to extinguish fires as soon as they arise. This is considered a breakthrough in the application of science and technology to forest fire prevention and control in Nghe An.
Currently, the province has 173 key forests, with a total area of hundreds of thousands of hectares. Of which, there are more than 15,000 hectares of pine forests, 720 hectares of mixed eucalyptus forests, more than 42,900 hectares of bamboo forests and nearly 174,000 hectares of mixed timber and bamboo forests. With a large forest area and scattered distribution in many complex terrains, the installation and operation of a surveillance camera system is a necessary and effective initiative.
In addition to investing in technology systems, localities in the province are also actively promoting propaganda work to raise people's awareness in forest protection and forest fire prevention.

In the coming time, Nghe An Forest Protection Department plans to survey more high-risk areas to propose to the relevant authorities to install more cameras and expand the surveillance network in districts such as Yen Thanh, Hoang Mai town and Quynh Luu.
