Nghe An: Discovered and temporarily detained more than 3 tons of smuggled sugar

Implementing the direction of the Market Management Department's leaders on stepping up the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights; On August 6, 2025, Market Management Team No. 11, Market Management Department coordinated with the Order Police Team, the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order and Team 4, the Department of Economic Police - Nghe An Provincial Police to search the CHENGLONG vehicle with license plate 34H-017.93 driven by Mr. Ho Van Hau, born in 1997, residing in Thach Khoi ward, Hai Phong city.

Through inspection, the Team discovered that the above mentioned means of transport contained 62 bags of MITR PHOL SUGAR brand white sugar originating from Thailand, 50kg/bag with a total weight of 3.1 tons. At the time of the inspection, Mr. Ho Van Hau could not present invoices and documents proving the legality of the goods. Market Management Team No. 11 sealed and temporarily detained all the above mentioned goods for verification and clarification.

In the coming time, Market Management Team No. 11 will continue to coordinate with functional forces to strengthen inspection and control of goods, focusing on products such as health protection foods, functional foods... thereby, promptly preventing and handling acts of production and trading of fake foods, foods of unknown origin, smuggled foods, and foods that do not ensure quality in circulation in the area.
