Nghe An: Highlights of May 29th

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Khac Than worked with Sembcorp Group leaders in Singapore; the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council held its regular May meeting; accelerating the construction progress of inter-level primary and secondary boarding schools for ethnic minorities in border communes... These are some of the highlights of the day.

* On the morning of May 29th, during his official visit to the Republic of Singapore, General Secretary and President To Lam and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong witnessed the signing and announcement of cooperation documents between the two countries. Attending the ceremony were leaders from Nghe An province, including Comrade Nguyen Khac Than - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.

* On the morning of May 29th, in Singapore, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province - held a working meeting with Mr. Lee Ark Boon - CEO of Sembcorp Development and Co-Chairman of VSIP Group - to promote investment cooperation through the implementation of VSIP industrial park projects in the province.

* On the afternoon of May 29th, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council held its regular May meeting to hear and give opinions on the program and content of specialized sessions, mid-year regular sessions, and a number of tasks within its authority. Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Comrades Duong Dinh Chinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council presided over the meeting.

* On the afternoon of May 29th, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with relevant units to review progress, resolve difficulties and obstacles, and focus human resources on accelerating the construction of multi-level boarding schools for ethnic minorities (primary and secondary) in border communes. Comrade Vo Trong Hai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - presided over the meeting.

* Sáng 29/5, Phó Thủ tướng Chính phủ Phạm Thị Thanh Trà chủ trì Lễ phát động Chương trình “Bảo vệ và hỗ trợ trẻ em phát triển trên môi trường mạng giai đoạn 2026 - 2030”. Buổi lễ được tổ chức trực tiếp tại Hà Nội và kết nối trực tuyến tới các địa phương trên cả nước. Tham dự tại điểm cầu Nghệ An có đồng chí Thái Văn Thành - Ủy viên BCH Đảng bộ tỉnh, Phó Chủ tịch UBND tỉnh cùng đại diện các sở, ban, ngành liên quan.

* On the morning of May 29th, the Nghe An Department of Health organized a rally to commemorate World No Tobacco Day on May 31st and the National No Tobacco Week from May 25th to 31st, 2026. The event was attended by representatives from various departments, agencies, health units, schools, and youth union members throughout the province. Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended the ceremony.

* On May 29th, Inspection Team No. 3 of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, led by Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, held a working session with 10 communes and wards in the Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai, and Dien Chau areas regarding the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.
