Nearly 75 years old, his health has somewhat declined, but Mr. Pham Nhut (in Dong Thanh Tay village, Tam Hoa commune, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam ) still has not left his plane, chisel and the profession of building racing boats.

Having never rowed a boat to compete, but born into a family with a rare tradition of building racing boats in Quang Nam, Mr. Pham Nhut has always been respected by racing teams for his skillful boat building techniques.

His talented boats have won many big and small races; not only in the Quang river region but also in many provinces and cities in the Central region.

Mr. Nhut's family's racing boat building profession has been passed down through many generations, with over 150 years of development, and his two sons are now the 5th generation to continue the profession.

Mr. Pham Nhut recounted that his father was a boat racing enthusiast when he was alive. Whenever there was a boat racing festival, even if there was a wedding or death anniversary in the family, he would stop what he was doing to go watch.

He was so passionate that he told his children and grandchildren that if there was a boat racing festival, even if it was a death anniversary, it must be postponed to another day so that his children and grandchildren could go watch. That passion was passed down through the generations of this family with a tradition of building racing boats.

According to Mr. Pham Nhut, this is a family profession that has been passed down for generations. Each generation has learned and researched on their own to build boats that are light, sturdy, and powerful on the water.

At first, his family only built boats for a few racing teams in Nui Thanh district. Seeing the reputation of his boats, many other units came to order them. Now, whenever talking about racing boats in Quang Nam, we have to mention Mr. Pham Nhut.

Mr. Nhut does not remember how many racing boats he has built, but he knows that the number is very large. According to him, building boats for work at sea or on lagoons requires high precision, building racing boats requires even higher standards.

A light boat, minimizing water and wind resistance, reaching the highest speed will contribute about 50% to winning each race.

Mr. Pham Phu Phuoc, Mr. Nhut's eldest son, is also a boat racing enthusiast like his father. Having learned the trade from his father since his twenties, Mr. Phuoc and his younger brother can now build a complete racing boat themselves.

Mr. Pham Nhut is very proud of his children, because modern life has so many things to care about, so many things to attract young people, but his children still wholeheartedly pursue the family's traditional profession. Mr. Nhut said that is the family's blessing.

Every year, Mr. Nhut's family's facility supplies 7-16 boats to racing teams. From 2019 to now, the number of orders has always increased. The price of racing boats is from 45-100 million VND/boat depending on the size. His family's racing boats are supplied throughout Quang Nam, Da Nang , Thua Thien Hue, Ly Son Island (Quang Ngai)...
