Spreading the spirit of entrepreneurship, encouraging the development of the private economy
- Mr. Director, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo emphasizes the role of the press in spreading the spirit of entrepreneurship and encouraging the development of the private economy. As a state manager of the press, how do you assess the requirement to improve the quality and effectiveness of information and prevent the situation of false information that negatively affects businesses?
Director of the Press Department Luu Dinh Phuc: It can be said that Resolution 68 is a major breakthrough in ideology and viewpoints in economic development in our country. The Resolution has clearly identified the private economic sector as the most important sector, along with the state economy and collective economy, playing a pivotal role in our country's economic development. Especially, in the context of innovation, in the context where we set an annual growth target of 8%, the Resolution clearly states the direction and goals until 2030, with a vision to 2045, including specific tasks for private economic development and integration into the world economy.
In particular, the role of the media is extremely important. The Resolution has identified the top priority as changing the mindset and thinking about private economic development to remove previous barriers and prejudices about the private economy. To create a legal corridor, as well as an open mindset to remove barriers for the private economic sector so that they have a position commensurate with other economic sectors.
In that context, the press is determined to arouse aspirations and confidence in developing the country's economy in the new era. The press will play a leading role in this issue. It must arouse national pride, the aspiration to get rich and rise, develop new economic models, and good practices. The private economic sectors will have equality, there will be many special preferential mechanisms, and the private economic sector will be considered an important driving force for national development.
In that context, the press and media must have the task of arousing aspirations. The task of the press and media is to accompany economic sectors to promote and support the community to recognize the position and role of the private economy, as well as support businesses in the development process.
This time, Resolution 68 especially emphasizes that the press and media are not allowed to report news that affects the legitimate rights and interests of private enterprises. In particular, they are not allowed to harass or report false information that affects the normal development of enterprises in general and other business sectors. That is a very important point in Resolution 68.

Key Contents
- Dear Director, to concretize the spirit of Resolution 68 in press activities, what key contents should press agencies focus on and implement in the coming time?
Director of the Press Department Luu Dinh Phuc: First of all, press agencies must clearly identify that reporting must be honest and objective, and must be conducted in a constructive spirit. We will identify that when we thoroughly understand this Resolution and concretize it into the actions of each press agency.
We must build and develop the culture of each newspaper and each press agency. Not only must we comply with the laws of the state, but we must also have culture in press activities. That culture must come from the head of the press agency, creating discipline, proactively and closely monitoring the activities of the editorial office and reporters to avoid violations.
Regarding state management activities, we have also developed mechanisms and policies to amend the Press Law to create a legal corridor for the press to develop in the context of digital technology development as it is today. At the same time, we have also created mechanisms and policies for the press to develop, but must strictly manage to avoid violations like in the past.
- Dear Director Luu Dinh Phuc, in the face of the situation where some press agencies report false and unobjective news about businesses, what control and handling mechanism will the Press Department have to ensure objectivity, fairness and compliance with the law?
Director of the Press Department Luu Dinh Phuc: There have been many stories of unbiased reporting on businesses. As managers of this field, we have the responsibility to detect and handle such violations. In terms of monitoring and detection, we have opened hotlines and hot addresses so that people and businesses can report violations when they see them.
In addition, the handling of complaints and denunciations through petitions from citizens and businesses is also of great concern. Thereby, we can fully grasp the information and strengthen inspection and handling activities for press agencies that violate the law. Along with that, there are stronger sanctions for leaders. Not only based on legal regulations, but also based on Party regulations, so that we can take this issue seriously.
According to Director Luu Dinh Phuc, when implementing Resolution 68, Cong Thuong Newspaper as well as many other newspapers need to promote and increase the number of articles to raise public awareness of the private economy. Photo: Thanh Thao |
- What should economic press, including Industry and Trade Newspaper, do to innovate and improve quality in the new situation, Mr. Director?
Director of the Press Department Luu Dinh Phuc: The Industry and Trade Newspaper, like many other newspapers, has recently made many innovations in content, form, and editorial management. I think that in the new context, especially when we implement Resolution 68, the Industry and Trade Newspaper, like many other newspapers, needs to promote and strengthen media articles to raise public awareness of the private economy; of businesses that are playing a very important role in the process of building and developing the country in the era of rising up.
Thank you very much, Director!
