The Politburo has just issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthrough in education and training development, demonstrating the Party's strong political determination in making education and training truly become the key driving force for the country's breakthrough development. Education and Times Newspaper had an interview with Teacher Tran Thuy Duong - Principal of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted about this content.
Practical, feasible solutions
- Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthrough in education and training development, inheriting and developing from Resolution 29 -NQ/TW in 2013. What do you think is the most innovative point in this document?
Ms. Tran Thuy Duong: The most breakthrough point in Resolution 71-NQ/TW is the setting of specific goals and practical, feasible solutions to overcome difficulties and improve Vietnamese education.
I think that the key tasks set out such as building special preferential policies for teachers, aiming for comprehensive digital transformation, building a team of excellent teachers, ensuring modern facilities, promoting international integration in education... are necessary conditions to train generations of talents for the country.
Spending 20% of the total state budget on education is an affirmation of the State's determination to improve the quality of education in our country. I believe that if the budget is used effectively, it will contribute to creating a new look for the education sector: Modernized facilities, improved teacher benefits, improved learning conditions for students...
In particular, the establishment of preferential policies for teachers is a positive sign for the country's education sector. When teachers' economic life is guaranteed, they will have the conditions to devote themselves to their work, and will be motivated to improve their expertise and research teaching methods.

The education sector will also become an attractive choice for many talents, thereby creating conditions for improving the quality of human resources serving the education sector. In particular, in the context of current educational innovation, the "rejuvenation" of the teaching staff will also create new winds, promoting the effectiveness of school activities.
The resolution has opened up great opportunities: Making English the second language, integrating digital and AI skills into the entire education system. This helps students develop language skills, be ready for global integration and become digital citizens in the 4.0 revolution.
On the other hand, the challenge of this innovation is the difference in infrastructure, the digital capacity of teachers is not really synchronized... To solve these difficulties, there needs to be investment plans to develop infrastructure, especially in schools in remote areas.
At the same time, it is necessary to diversify teacher training forms to help them develop digital skills and apply AI in teaching, combining traditional and modern teaching methods to increase teaching and learning effectiveness.
Of course, implementing the above solutions effectively requires time, wise direction from leaders at all levels, and high determination from each school.

Building a smart, friendly learning environment
- As the leading high-quality educational institution in the country, how will Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted implement the Resolution in the coming time?
Ms. Tran Thuy Duong: As a pioneer, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted will develop specific plans to implement the Resolution through the following steps:
With the goal of educating and developing students comprehensively, the school always promotes the implementation of "learning while doing", in order to inspire students' creativity, initiative and positivity - the necessary qualities of the future generation of talents.
In addition, with the educational motto of "both red and professional", the school always combines capacity development and personality education, training political and ideological qualities for students.
The school's Party Committee also focuses on nurturing excellent students to create a source of young Party members, thereby arousing in them the ideal of dedication, sense of responsibility for the country, and efforts to develop themselves to contribute to the rising era of the Fatherland.
With the goal of integrating interdisciplinary training programs to improve the quality of STEM education, in recent times, the school has effectively implemented solutions to improve the quality of STEM education, spreading the passion for scientific research to students through interdisciplinary integrated programs, exciting activities of talent clubs, extracurricular learning programs such as science exhibitions, science film screenings, etc.
In particular, in May 2025, the school was honored to receive a visit from General Secretary To Lam and a STEM practice room. This is a great encouragement and motivation for the efforts of teachers and students of the school in continuing to further develop STEM education in the school.

In the coming school year, we will build a STEM education program that integrates foreign language teaching and digital skills, where English becomes a learning tool. In addition, the teaching staff will also design lessons that integrate AI such as programming, data, and algorithms.
Aiming to build a smart, friendly and civilized learning environment, the school has equipped digital classrooms, smart libraries, online learning systems, etc. so that students can study anywhere, anytime.
To contribute to the successful implementation of the goals set out in Resolution 71-NQ/TW, the Party Committee and the School Board focus on leading and directing the building of a team of teachers with strong political will, good professional qualifications, and dedication to the profession.
The school will continue to coordinate with information technology training units and technology enterprises to organize in-depth training on AI, digital pedagogy, student capacity assessment, and creative autonomy.
In addition, the school continues to expand and develop friendly relationships with embassies of other countries, schools, research institutes, and international organizations to create opportunities for student and teacher exchanges, building an international academic and cultural exchange environment for teachers and students of the school.
Thank you very much!
