Warm homes in the highlands
Being a poor household for many years, Mr. Polong Nhe’s family (Arơh village, Lang commune) with 4 people used to live in a dilapidated house with a temporary roof made of old corrugated iron and flimsy wooden fences. Every time a storm came, he and his wife had to cover the roof with plastic bags, put up props to prop up the walls, and worry about the safety of their young children.
Now, with the support of 60 million VND from the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development - Quang Nam Branch (Agribank Quang Nam), the dream of a solid house has also come true. The house is built with solid brick walls, a cold-rolled roof, and a clean cement floor, not only a place to avoid the rain and sun but also a real home for the whole family.
“Thanks to Agribank’s help, my family has a solid house to live in. Since having a new house, my family has been motivated to work on the fields more regularly, my children have a quiet place to study, and the rainy nights in the forest are no longer as cold as before,” said Poloong Nhe.

Also in 2024, Agribank Quang Nam supported the construction of a total of 4 new houses for poor households in Lang commune, each house was sponsored with 60 million VND. Previously, in the period 2015 - 2016, Agribank Quang Nam also supported the construction of 35 houses for disadvantaged households in the commune, with a support level of 20 - 35 million VND/house. A total of more than 1.2 billion VND was contributed by the bank to help 39 Co Tu households have a stable home, "settling down and making a living".
According to Mr. Bling Mien - Chairman of Lang Commune People's Committee, Agribank's housing support program has created a very positive effect, because it not only brings specific material value, but also arouses the spirit of overcoming difficulties and the will to rise up in each beneficiary family.
“The effectiveness of the shelters supported by Agribank is very clear. Some households, after receiving houses, boldly borrowed capital to plant forests and raise livestock. Some households have escaped poverty after only 2-3 years, showing the widespread impact of timely support to the right people.

Since 2019, instead of just giving Tet gifts as before, the bank has switched to supporting crops and livestock breeds to help people develop long-term production. Hundreds of households in Aro, Nal, Arơh, and Pơ'ning villages have been provided with all Muscovy duck breeds and livestock materials.
In 2020, people in Ta'ri, Pơ'ning, Arơh, Nal, and Aro villages continued to receive thousands of fruit seedlings such as Thai jackfruit and Taiwanese mango for planting. In 2021 - 2023, Agribank supported 3,710 green-skinned grapefruit seedlings, 19,240 purple ginseng seedlings, and 4,425 green-skinned grapefruit seedlings for all households in the commune.
In particular, in 2024, 100% of households in Lang commune will receive 64,315 cinnamon seedlings and nearly 7 tons of biofertilizer from the bank to plant economic forests. Thanks to these practical livelihood models, hundreds of Co Tu households have more production materials and increased their income on their homeland.
"Through the Agribank branch in Tay Giang district, the bank has helped 160 households in Lang commune borrow preferential loans to develop the economy, with a total outstanding loan balance of more than 22 billion VND. Thanks to this source of capital, many families have boldly invested in afforestation and large-scale livestock farming to become well-off. In addition, Agribank Quang Nam also sponsored a Lang student, sponsoring scholarships from high school and above," said Mr. Mao.

Of which, more than 4.9 billion VND supported livelihoods, more than 4 billion VND eliminated temporary housing, more than 4.4 billion VND gave gifts on holidays and Tet, etc.
