If you have the opportunity to travel and explore the forest in Vinh An district, Fujian province, China, just go about 100km and you will see a mysterious ancient house that has existed for more than 100 years, called An Trinh ancient house by the locals.

According to historical records, this is a rare large-sized house in Fujian, once home to the Tri family, built between 1885 and 1899.

The ancient house has a total area of 10,000 m2, with 2/3 of the surrounding wall made of stone, in which the ground level is 4m high to have durability, bring cool air, help against the dangers of robbery and is a special highlight that creates an attraction that no other ancient house had at that time.

It is known that the house has a total of 360 rooms, including 12 kitchens and 5 wells, so it can serve 1,000 people.

Tourists who come to visit this place often joke: "If you stay in a room every day, it would take about a year to stay in this entire house."

However, few people would have guessed that this ancient house with walls tens of meters high, using more than 10,000 tons of earth and rock, was built on a swamp. So after more than a hundred years, what technique was used to make the house completely intact, without even a trace of subsidence or erosion over time?

It turns out that the ancients had a way of writing the proverb: "In the morning, use a thousand-year-old fir, in the water, use ten thousand-year-old pine."

This sentence means that the longer the wood has been soaked in water, the harder it becomes. Therefore, using wood from the same tree to build a house foundation not only makes it stronger but also helps prevent the house from rotting.

Based on this principle, when constructing the building, the ancients used a large amount of wood to pave the floor with a total of 18 layers. Then, soil and rocks were poured on top of the swamp to become a more solid foundation. The house therefore remained durable, not rotting for more than 100 years.

In addition, this building was originally the residence of the Tri family, so it has been uninhabited for a long time. Many visitors have discovered that inside the rooms there are no cobwebs or flies, so this is a detail that has given rise to rumors that make many people curious.

However, experts immediately refuted the view and said that there was no mysterious phenomenon happening. An Trinh ancient house is located in a mountainous area with a hot and humid climate, so every summer and autumn, many bats will fly in to make nests.

About 70% of bat species eat insects, the rest mainly eat fruit and only a few species are carnivorous. In addition, this is also the main food of spiders, so when the available food source is gone, spiders and insects will not have the opportunity to reproduce and develop.

Currently, this An Trinh ancient house is still one of the famous works and every year always receives a number of tourists to visit and enjoy.
