As the first major festival of the temple and pagoda festival season in Cao Bang province, the King Le Temple Festival will be held on February 3, 2025, which is the 6th day of the first lunar month.


Located about 10 km from Cao Bang City, Cao Bang Province, the King Le Temple, dedicated to King Le Thai To, is situated in Hoang Tung Commune, Hoa An District. Legend says the temple houses the King's sword and royal robes. The King Le Temple is part of the Na Lu Citadel complex, a center of economic, cultural, and military activity for many ancient feudal dynasties.

The Le King Temple Festival is held annually on the 6th day of the first lunar month. The ceremonial part begins on the night of the 5th day of the first lunar month. The festival includes cultural and artistic activities, and folk games such as raft racing, chess, stick pushing, tug-of-war, and grass pulling.

At the festival, 15 communes and towns in Hoa An district also organized booths displaying OCOP products and local specialties such as An Lai vermicelli, forest honey, Tai Ho Sin green tea, crispy rice, dried vermicelli, etc.

The festival attracts visitors from all over the country because of its unique cultural activities and the sacredness of a pilgrimage back to the roots of the Vietnamese nation for generations of Vietnamese people.

In 1944, the temple served as the meeting place for the Cao Bang - Bac Giang - Lang Son inter-provincial conference.

In 1995, the King Le Temple was classified by the State as a National Historical and Cultural Monument, serving as a center for festivals, cultural activities, and arts for the people in the region.
