Americans can buy bullets from vending machines as easily as Coca Cola

The New York Times reported on July 13 that American Rounds had just installed six bullet vending machines in grocery stores in Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma. Two more machines will be installed later this month in Texas and Colorado.

'' We are the only company that always requires user identity verification when they purchase ammo ,'' said Grant Magers, CEO of American Rounds.

This would make it as easy as buying soda from a vending machine for people who need ammunition. But gun control advocates in the US say ammunition should not be so easily distributed. At the same time, the government should have stricter sanctions to deal with the risk of bullet theft from vending machines.

As for how to buy, American Rounds's ammunition vending machines feature a touch screen. The buyer can select ammunition for a handgun or rifle, then request a specific type of ammunition.

When the customer has finished making their selection, they insert their ID card into the scanner. The camera on the scanner takes a photo of the customer to verify their identity.

Grant Magers said customer data will not be stored, shared, or sold to third parties. Customers can only buy ammunition with a card, as the vending machines do not accept cash. Magers said this is the safest way to sell ammunition because people who want to buy ammunition for bad purposes will often go to places where they can pay with cash, not have their ID checked, or can buy thousands of rounds of ammunition without supervision.

Currently, U.S. federal law states that people must be 18 years or older to purchase ammunition for handguns and rifles. To purchase other types of ammunition, buyers must be 21 years or older.

Some states and local governments, however, have stricter requirements. For example, they require a license to purchase ammunition. So American Rounds vending machines require customers to be 21 years old to buy ammunition, regardless of type.
