The joy of a new home.
These days, in the resettlement areas along the highway in Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province, flags and flowers are fluttering everywhere, and the appearance of these "mini-cities" is gradually emerging. In each house, radiant faces are welcoming the big holiday.
The resettlement areas in Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province, have modern and convenient infrastructure.
Looking at his new, spacious and impressive house under construction in the resettlement area of Hamlet 3, Binh An 1 village (Phuoc Thanh commune, Tuy Phuoc district), Mr. Nguyen Pham Bay (80 years old) couldn't help but feel emotional.
Mr. Bay stated that his family owned approximately 1,200 square meters of land, of which over 800 square meters were confiscated for the construction of the North-South Expressway (Eastern section), phase 2021-2025, passing through Tuy Phuoc district. Upon receiving compensation, he immediately agreed, only waiting for the resettlement area to be completed so he could lay the foundation for his house.
"Although our old home was more spacious, the location and infrastructure weren't as convenient or well-maintained as our new home. With the compensation and support we received, my family quickly built a new house. Our neighbors from the old place are also happy to have moved here," Mr. Bay said excitedly.
The last of these spacious houses were built to fill the resettlement area in Phuoc An commune, Tuy Phuoc district.
In the resettlement area of Phuoc An commune, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thang (60 years old) was equally delighted. Looking at his newly completed, spacious house nestled close to other houses, he recalled the early days when he learned about the expressway project passing through this area.
Mr. Thang said that having lived in their old homes for almost their entire lives, most residents were initially distracted when they learned that the project would require them to move elsewhere.
"Everyone thought that moving to the new place would mean starting over from scratch, and that the changes in living conditions would surely affect the peaceful life that had existed for generations. But after being persuaded by the government and seeing the importance of this key national project, everyone supported it," Mr. Thang confided.
Key to GPMB's success
Chairman of Phuoc Thanh Commune People's Committee, Nguyen Thanh Dat, shared that there are 3 resettlement areas in the commune serving people affected by the expropriation of houses and land for the North-South Expressway Eastern section passing through Tuy Phuoc district.
To gain the support of the local people for the project, encourage them to quickly relocate to new homes, and stabilize their lives, the local authorities organized campaigns to educate each individual and household about the Party and State's policy on building the North-South expressway project.
To provide residents with better housing than their old homes, the local authorities invested in infrastructure and selected truly convenient locations for the resettlement areas, so most people were happy to move to their new homes. Currently, the resettlement areas have been completed and sufficient housing has been allocated to the displaced households.
With favorable site conditions, contractors are accelerating construction of the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway through Binh Dinh province.
According to the Department of Transport of Binh Dinh province, the consensus of the people throughout the province, their acceptance of compensation and relocation to resettlement areas, is the key factor determining the success of land clearance for the expressway project passing through the area.
From the very beginning, the number of households affected by the project was very large, so the local authorities quickly decided to build resettlement areas.
As a result, 40 resettlement areas have been built throughout the province, covering an area of 71,335 hectares/1,723 land plots, with a total investment of 746.4 billion VND.
By the end of April 2024, construction had been completed in 39 areas, with one area remaining at 95% completion. Land allocation for resettlement has been completed on-site for 904 households (1,044 plots).
At the locations where land has been handed over, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province requested the investor to direct the contractor to increase machinery and equipment and expedite construction to ensure the plan is met as directed by the Government .
The North-South Expressway, phase 2021-2025, passing through Binh Dinh province, has a length of 118km, comprising 3 component projects: Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon (27.7km), Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon (70.1km), and Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh (21km). The project scale in the investment phase includes 4 lanes and a roadbed width of 17m.
