A man who owns a house in Thanh Tung market (Thanh Tung commune, Ca Mau province) swung a knife at his wife during a dispute. After his wife was taken to the emergency room, he set fire to the house, causing a large fire in the area.

On the afternoon of August 22, Mr. Mai Viet Trieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Tung Commune, Ca Mau Province, said that he was present at the scene of the fire at Thanh Tung Commune's central market to direct the fire extinguishing, but the fire was very large and difficult to control.

According to Mr. Trieu, the cause of the fire was a resident in the market who set fire to his house after having a conflict with his wife, causing the fire to spread to the surrounding area.

“The man (whose identity has not been determined) had an argument and then used a knife to slash his wife. While his wife was being taken to the emergency room, he stayed home and set fire to his house. The fire broke out and spread to many other houses in the market area,” said Mr. Trieu.
