In recent days, Quang Ninh has experienced prolonged periods of intense heat, with temperatures forecast to exceed 38 degrees Celsius. Actual outdoor temperatures, especially along paved roads and in areas with few trees, may be significantly higher than the forecast. According to observations by reporters from Tien Phong Newspaper , the weather on May 26th was extremely hot, with temperatures reaching over 40 degrees Celsius around midday and early afternoon on many roads in major cities such as Ha Long, Hon Gai, and Bai Chay wards. Under the scorching sun, many laborers in Quang Ninh still struggle to make a living. Many outdoor workers have to wear specialized sun-protective clothing and use damp towels on their heads to prevent their body temperature from rising. The high temperatures combined with the concrete and asphalt surfaces make the air even more stuffy and uncomfortable. "This is the hottest heatwave since the beginning of the season. The weather is very hot and uncomfortable. I work as a delivery driver and I'm often out and about, but today I had to find a shady spot to rest because the weather was so unpleasant," shared Mr. Hoang Long, a resident of Hong Gai ward.
The road surface, exposed to the sun all day, was scorching hot, forcing many people traveling on the road to pull over to areas with more trees to rest and avoid heatstroke. Workers at Ha Long Flower Park must wear jackets with fans and carry umbrellas while weeding. The delivery man parked his motorbike in the shade of a promotional billboard in front of the Quang Ninh Museum and Library. At the Bai Tho Bridge area in Hong Gai ward, fishermen take advantage of the opportunity to dock their boats under the bridge to rest.
By around 3 PM, the road surface had reached its peak heat, so people sought shelter under bridges, in the shade of trees, or at roadside cafes to escape the heat.
Some families bring their young children to the park to camp right under the trees. Authorities in Quang Ninh province advise people to limit outdoor activities during hot weather, between 10 am and 4 pm. Avoid working for too long in the sun or in hot environments, refrain from strenuous physical activity, and drink enough water (1.5-2 liters per day). Wear protective clothing, hats, sunglasses, and face masks to avoid direct sunlight. Forecasts indicate that Quang Ninh will continue to experience intense heat in the coming days, but temperatures may decrease by 1-2 degrees compared to today. From tomorrow evening and night, the northern region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain.
