Meanwhile, Mr. Vo Thai Tinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Lac town (Quy Chau district) informed that although the water level in the town is gradually receding, some areas are still flooded.
Many households affected by severe flooding have had to temporarily take shelter in high-rise buildings or cultural houses. Tomorrow, when the water recedes, local authorities will mobilize forces to help people overcome the damage and soon stabilize their lives.
1,600 houses flooded, more than 700 people isolated
According to a quick report from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, as of 5:00 p.m. on September 27, floods and rains had forced 139 people in Ky Son district to evacuate; more than 700 people in Que Phong and Ky Son districts were isolated.
1,600 houses in Que Phong, Nghia Dan, Anh Son, Thanh Chuong, Quy Chau, Ky Son, Quy Hop and Thai Hoa districts were flooded (of which Quy Chau district had 1,080 houses); 830 houses in Ky Son and Quy Hop districts were isolated; more than 100 houses were affected.
Heavy rains damaged more than 1,500 hectares of rice and 3,000 hectares of seasonal flowers; nearly 2,400 livestock and poultry were killed or swept away...
Faced with the complicated developments of floods and rains, Nghe An province requests departments, branches, and localities to:
Check, review, and prepare plans to ensure the safety of dike and dam systems, especially works under construction or damaged or degraded.
Proactively develop plans for safe operation of dams, especially weak and full dams; promptly arrange forces, materials, and means to conduct rescue and overcome incidents of dikes, dams, and landslides.
Strictly manage and guide traffic at ferry terminals, flooded and eroded culverts and spillways; set up markers, assign guards, close roads, and divert traffic... to ensure safety.
In addition, people are strictly prohibited from collecting firewood, fishing... on rivers, streams, and downstream of dams during floods to avoid human casualties.
Absolutely do not let people have subjective thoughts before, during and after floods. Pay special attention and monitor children living in affected areas.
At the same time, immediately check and review residential areas, agency headquarters, workplaces, and unit stations, resolutely evacuate people, vehicles, and assets from dangerous areas, especially areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and inundation to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and the State.
