Venerable Thich Nguyen Chinh - Deputy Chief of the Central Office of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - shared with Tuoi Tre Online that when seeing the large number of people coming to Quan Su Pagoda to worship Buddha's relics, the pagoda decided to open all night to serve the needs of the people.

Previously, the schedule for worshiping Buddha relics at Quan Su Pagoda lasted from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day, from May 14 to 16. On the first day of opening to welcome people to worship Buddha relics at Quan Su Pagoda, the number of people flocking was too large.

There are no official statistics, but it is estimated that tens of thousands of people lined up in zigzag lines from the sidewalk of Da Tuong Street to Tran Hung Dao, Tran Binh Trong, into the yard of the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, to Quan Su Street to enter the pagoda.

Many people waited in line for 5-6 hours to see the Buddha's relics for 1 minute, but everyone was happy and respectfully lined up.

Water and cakes were distributed free of charge to people in need. Tons of cakes were “gathered” in front of the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Palace.

Seeing the large number of people, Quan Su Pagoda decided to open its doors until all the people left. As a result, Quan Su Pagoda opened its doors all night until 3am today, May 15, and continued to open its doors to welcome people to worship from 5am.

"The monks and volunteers are all very tired, but the needs of the people and Buddhists are very great, so the organizing committee is trying their best," said Venerable Thich Nguyen Chinh.

The Venerable added that the number of people coming to Quan Su Pagoda to worship Buddha's relics today, May 15, was even larger than yesterday.

The Buddha's relics will remain at Quan Su Pagoda until May 16, then be brought to Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ha Nam Province on the morning of May 17, where they will remain until 12:00 on May 20, before returning to India.
