The daughter asked her mother to borrow money to go to school and then find a part-time job to support herself. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy (Thuong's mother) was not sure if anyone would lend her money but still tried to drag her wheelchair around the neighborhood. By the end of the afternoon, the neighbors took pity on her and lent her more than 10 million to help "little Thuong go to Hue to go to school".

I am physically disabled, poor and illiterate. I have suffered enough, so now I cannot let my child drop out of school and suffer like me.

Immediately after graduating, go find a part-time job.

Thuong left her home in Hau Truong village, Hai Truong commune, Hai Lang district ( Quang Tri province) for Hue. The house located deep in the corner of the hill was left with only Mrs. Thuy. It was called a house but it was only big enough to put a bed and a mesh cabinet for her to sell a few packages of shampoo, a few cans of soft drinks, and packs of cigarettes to people in the neighborhood.

The charity house sign was used to patch up the hole in the wall near the roof to keep out the sun. The cement roof had some light coming through because of the hole. The kitchen was connected to the bathroom, temporarily covered with an old bed sheet and some cardboard.

The girl understood her family situation better than anyone else, so as soon as she received her admission results, she went online to try to contact shops near the school. However, all of them refused because Thuong only applied for a part-time job. With the 10 million her mother borrowed, Thuong paid her tuition and a few other payments of more than 9 million, leaving her with less than a million in her pocket.

Because her family was poor, Thuong was allowed to stay in the dormitory. On the second day in Hue, the girl immediately looked for a job. Without a vehicle, she just walked around the school, stopping at every shop she saw. She walked from morning to afternoon until her legs were tired, but she finally found a grocery store that needed workers.

The girl applied for a job on the third day she arrived in Hue. The owner of the restaurant let the poor student work by the hour depending on her class schedule. For each hour of work, Thuong was paid 14,000 VND. "I'm used to hardship, I'm not afraid of a little more. If one job is not enough, I'll find more work online or I can work at home early or late. I just feel sorry for my mother who's home alone, if she gets sick, who will take care of her?" - Thuong worried.

Your future is also my hope

The grandparents gave them a small plot of land in the garden to build a temporary tent for the mother and daughter to live in. A unit that knew about the situation of Thuong and her mother built a house of gratitude. Although it was only about 30 square meters, it was enough for the mother and daughter to shelter from the rain and sun. A relative also donated a mesh cabinet to sell to earn money for the mother and daughter to get by.

Despite the hardships and difficulties, "Thuong is very studious and studies well", which is the pride of her disabled mother. Thuong said that after finishing 11th grade, her education was so shaky that she thought it would have to end. There were days when no one came to her mother's grocery store. The monthly allowance of over a million VND for the disabled was only enough for the mother and child to survive.

The mother thought of letting her daughter quit school to work, but her daughter insisted on going to school, so the thought quickly passed. So that summer, Thuong went alone to Hai Lang town to ask for a job as a coffee shop assistant. The owner of a lakeside cafe in town heard about Thuong's situation and agreed to let her student help serve and clean. Thanks to the money of several million VND for those summer months of extra work, the poor student did not have to stop studying.

It seemed that this desperate situation made Thuong even more determined to study harder. Her efforts were duly rewarded with a regular scholarship for poor students who overcome difficulties. It was also the scholarship that helped Thuong get a study desk and her mother buy an old TV that was being sold for 200,000 VND.

Even at the end of grade 12, thanks to this scholarship, mother and daughter overcame the most difficult days when there was not a grain of rice left in the house. Teacher Truong Hong Minh - Thuong's homeroom teacher for three years of high school - said he had never seen a student with such great determination as Thuong. Despite her tragic circumstances, she overcame everything and was determined to study.

"If she didn't have great determination, Thuong probably wouldn't have had the strength to complete her studies over the years, so I believe that with that determination, the little teacher and student will grow up more and more each day," said teacher Minh.

The girl was born in difficult circumstances.

Thuong's birth was also a difficult story. Mrs. Thuy's limbs were crippled since birth, so she just stayed at home. Worried that her daughter would have no one to rely on when she was old, Mrs. Thuy's mother told her to find a way to have a child so that she could help carry her because she knew her daughter could not lift anything too heavy.

Love has appeared in this world in such a way without beginning or end. But the daughter has never once asked her mother how she appeared, nor has she ever complained about her fate. Loving her mother, the daughter takes hardship as motivation to remind herself to overcome the hardships of her life.
