Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a leader of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance said that this agency continues to notify and remind employees to update their citizen identification numbers and personal identification numbers in their social insurance and health insurance participation records, no later than March 31, 2025.

Why do I have to update my citizen ID before March 31?

After this period, cases that have not updated their citizen identification and personal identification will have their records processed by Ho Chi Minh City Social Security, such as issuing social insurance slips, determining the payment process, and using health insurance cards, etc.

Regarding concerns that if the application is not updated before March 31, it will be denied and health insurance benefits will be affected, the above leader affirmed that the social insurance agency will support and continue to update citizen identification numbers and personal identification for people.

However, employees are still encouraged to proactively update to ensure personal rights.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, from 2022, the unit has provided instructions on how to update citizen identification or personal identification number into social insurance and health insurance records.

However, many cases have not updated new data, causing difficulties in the process of issuing electronic social insurance books and electronic health insurance cards.

Specifically, by January 31, 2025, more than 152,000 people participating in social insurance and health insurance have not had their citizen identification and personal identification updated in the data of the social insurance sector.

Vietnam Social Security also requires social security agencies of provinces and cities to require participants to update their citizen identification or personal identification to synchronize data, reducing problems when doing procedures...

Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance has sent to employers, units/organizations managing health insurance participants,educational and training institutions, and social insurance - health insurance collection organizations to create electronic records of 608 employees.

These 608 people's profiles need to be attached with their citizen identification cards or personal identification number notifications.

The social insurance agency notes that if the unit or employee is fully responsible for the suspension of processing records, issuing cards, or issuing books due to failure to update the citizen identification number or personal identification.

How to check citizen identification number on VssID, VNeID

Vietnam Social Security said it has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to update and upgrade the digital social insurance application (VssID) so that people can log in to VssID using their VNeID electronic identification account.

To use the electronic identity account login feature on the VssID application, users must have a VssID account and a level 2 VNeID account.

Users can install the latest versions of the two applications VssID or VNeID via the App Store (for devices using the iOS operating system) or Google Play (for devices using the Android operating system).

Step 1: After installing the VssID application, the user chooses to log in with the VNeID electronic identification account (red frame) in the bottom corner of the screen.

Step 2: After successfully logging in, the VssID system will redirect the user to the VNeID application. Here, the employee logs in to the level 2 electronic identification account. In the picture: The VNeID application needs to be downloaded or updated on app stores such as the App Store or Google Play.

Step 4: If the account already displays the citizen identification number, there is no need to update. If the old citizen identification number is displayed, the information needs to be changed.

To update your citizen identification on your computer, follow these steps:

Step 1: Access the Social Insurance Public Service Portal and log in with your VssID account.

Step 2: Confirm successful login and proceed to change citizen identification number information.

Step 3: Enter the new citizen identification number in the personal information section and complete the update.

Vietnam Social Security instructs people to read more instructions and support through official channels such as the Vietnam Social Security Electronic Information Portal at https://baohiemxahoi.gov.vn/ or the Facebook page named Vietnam Social Security with a blue tick.

People can also call hotline 1900.9068 to receive support from the smart virtual assistant (service provider fee 1,000 VND/minute).

First, the employee calls the above switchboard using the phone number registered with the VssID account and presses 8. The virtual assistant will ask to read the social security number. After reading the correct social security number, the system will read the new VssID password, the password is repeated once.

If the code is not read correctly, the virtual assistant will notify "phone number and insurance code do not match or are not registered with the social insurance agency".

Social Insurance also guides people to use the forgot password function on VssID or the website https://dichvucong.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn.

Users must have a valid email address, registered when creating a new VssID account to be able to use it.

If you want to add email, you must fill out a declaration form according to the instructions of the staff at the nearest social insurance agency.
