The teacher who "spent his life in the laboratory" passed away

According to information from relatives of Professor Chu Pham Ngoc Son, he passed away early in the morning of August 11, at the age of 88.

Professor Chu Pham Ngoc Son, born in 1936 in Saigon, originally from Hung Yen, is a famous scientist andeducator in Vietnam.

In 1954, he studied at Saigon University of Science .

In 1955, after passing the PCB physical chemistry certificate and the SPCN physical chemistry and natural science certificate, he applied to work as a laboratory technician in the school's chemistry department.

At this time, his job was to wash the experimental bottles, clean the analytical balances and laboratory tables, prepare and perform some illustrative chemical experiments while the teacher stood on the podium teaching theory.

Three consecutive years later, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics and chemistry in 1957, a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1958, wrote his master's thesis in 1957, defended it in 1959, and immediately went to do research at the University of Delaware, USA.

In 1962, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis in organic chemistry.

Returning home, he worked at Saigon University of Science.

After 1975, he continued teaching as a lecturer at the University of General High School (now the University of Natural Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City National University).

In 1981, he was awarded the title of professor.

In 1987, he became Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Experimental Analysis Services and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Science and Technology Associations until his retirement in 2001.

After retirement, he remained active in teaching, continuing to work with many laboratory technicians, instructing many classes of students, trainees and graduate students.

In addition, he holds many positions in social organizations such as: Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Ho Chi Minh City, Vice President of the Vietnam Chemistry Association, Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Analytical Physics - Chemistry - Biology, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Health Association, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Chemistry Association...

Professor Chu Ngoc Son is also a National Assembly delegate for terms 8, 9, and 10.

Throughout his career, Professor Chu Pham Ngoc Son has published more than 200 scientific reports in specialized journals. Notably, he has 5 works that have been put into production and published many textbooks and monographs.
