In Van Khanh hamlet, Van Lang commune, over 70% of the population are ethnic minorities. While in 2021 the hamlet had 45 out of 106 poor households, accounting for 42.45%, by the end of 2025 only 1 out of 106 poor households remains, representing 0.94%.
Visiting the homes of Mr. Tran Van Dai and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thoa, two of the households that received support to build houses and escape poverty in recent years, we could feel the changes taking place in this disadvantaged area.
Thanks to the efforts of local officials, especially the role of the village head, and funding from national target programs, Mr. Dai switched to a new tea variety with higher yield, quality, and value, and planted trees to increase his income. Meanwhile, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thoa's family not only grows tea but also raises cattle and goats.
In fact, at our local level, we admire the enthusiasm and responsibility of the Head of Van Khanh Hamlet, Luu Bich Truong, towards the movements and activities implemented in the locality.
In a conversation with us, Mr. Luu Bich Truong confided: "The unique characteristic of our Van Khanh hamlet is that it has a large number of ethnic minority people, so we prioritize raising awareness among the people to change their perceptions regarding economic development."
With this approach, during the period 2021-2025, Van Khanh hamlet provided cattle support to 33 households, with a total budget of 700 million VND. In addition, the hamlet also implemented projects supporting clean water, production development, livelihood diversification, and livestock restructuring.
With funding from the Social Policy Bank, the two loan groups in the hamlet have coordinated the disbursement of loans, with a total outstanding balance currently exceeding 8 billion VND. Using this capital, the villagers have focused on improving 7 hectares of tea plantations, intensifying cultivation of 150 hectares of forest, and expanding livestock and poultry farming to increase their income. The living standards of the people in Van Khanh hamlet are steadily improving.
